Chapter 7 As Alexander stepped down from the stage with Victoria taking his arm ready to greet guests, he worriedly checked his phone and saw the leaked story, his heart clenching when his immediate call to Sophia went straight to a turned–off phone. Victoria, seeing him freeze, tugged his hand. “Alex, it’s time to greet the guests.” Alexander yanked his hand away and headed for the exit as Catherine, noticing his haste, quickly stepped into his path. “Alexander, where are you going? If you leave now, what about Victoria’s reputation? What about the Sterling family name?” Alexander heard none of this, his mind filled with panic that Sophia might have discovered everything Ignoring all protests, he pushed past them and left the wedding venue. In the car, he told the driver to go straight home. Before the car fully stopped, he impatiently opened the door and got out. The guards at the entrance looked confused by his frantic appearance. Alexander ignored them, opening the door and entering. Seeing no sign of Sophia in the living room, he asked the emerging housekeeper, “Where is Mrs. Sterling?” The housekeeper was startled by his appearance before responding, “She is upstairs resting…” Before she could finish, Alexander bounded upstairs. Opening the bedroom door to find the bed empty, his eyes immediately caught the fabric strips by the window. Seeing the makeshift rope leading to the first floor, Alexander’s face darkened. Clearly, Sophia had used this to escape. Realizing this, fury rose in Alexander’s chest. He turned and shouted at the guards who’d followed, “Didn’t I tell you to watch her?! You can’t even keep an eye on one person–what good are you?!” The guards outside lowered their heads, not daring to speak Alexander took a deep breath and growled, “Well? The guards scattered with hurried acknowledgments. Go find her!” Alexander rubbed his temples, unable to dispel his anger. He didn’t dare imagine what she might see after escaping His wedding with Victoria was being broadcast live–that’s exactly why he’d locked her at home today and cut the internet, to prevent her from finding out.
