A piercing scream echoed throughout the banquet hall. Blood spurted from the wound, splattering onto Scarlett’s white dress like blooming red plum blossoms.
Chaos erupted instantly, with screams coming from all directions.
Yet Scarlett remained eerily calm, coldly surveying the crowd, her crimson lips parting: “My apologies for the spectacle. My mother died when I was young, so no one taught me proper manners. When someone wrongs me…”
She pulled out the knife, blood spraying across her face: “I settle scores immediately.”
Lily’s agonized sobs filled the auction hall, but Scarlett simply tossed the knife aside and walked away.
Just as she reached the exit, a strong hand suddenly seized her wrist.
Jackson had apparently rushed back after hearing the commotion, still holding the blanket, heating pad, and ginger
tea he’d gone to fetch.
A sharp pain lanced through Scarlett’s heart.
So he’d been getting these items for Lily.
“Have you completely lost your mind?” Jackson’s face was frighteningly cold. “You stabbed someone over a necklace? If she does something else you don’t like, are you planning to murder her next?”
His grip was punishingly tight, as if he meant to crush her wrist bones. Scarlett endured the pain, her eyes reddening. “Why don’t you ask what she did? She took my mother’s necklace and…”
‘Even if she fed it to a dog, you don’t stab people!” Jackson cut her off harshly.
Those words pierced Scarlett’s heart like a dagger.
She suddenly laughed, tears streaming down her face. “So what now, Mr. Blackwell? How do you plan to ‘discipline‘ ne this time?”
‘I can’t control you anymore.” Jackson’s voice was ice–cold. “Security, take her to the police station. Charge her with aggravated assault. Three days‘ detention.”
Scarlett jerked her head up, unable to believe her ears.
He was actually sending her to jail for Lily’s sake?
She bit her lip hard enough to taste blood but didn’t say a word as the police led her away,
With one last glance back, she saw Jackson lifting Lily into his arms, whispering softly: “Don’t cry, I’m here.”

The three days in detention were the closest Scarlett had ever come to hell.
She was thrown into the filthiest cell, where her fellow inmates had clearly been instructed to torment her mercilessly-
On the first day, she was stripped for a “search” and doused with ice–cold water.
On the second day, someone mixed glass shards into her food, leaving her starving as her stomach cramped painfully.
On the final day, several inmates pinned her in a bathroom stall, their fists raining down like hailstones.
“Heard you pissed off someone you shouldn’t have,” the ringleader sneered, gripping Scarlett’s jaw. “Mr. Blackwell said to teach you a ‘lesson.”
Scarlett curled up on the floor, her eyes burning red.
She couldn’t believe Jackson would go this far, but every bruise on her body confirmed the truth-
He truly was capable of such cruelty.
When the officers finally came to release her three days later, Scarlett could barely stand.
She dragged her battered body out of the detention center, collapsing just beyond the entrance.
When she next awoke, she was in a hospital room.
“Learned your lesson this time?” Jackson stood by the bed, his voice detached.
