Scarlett stared silently at the ceiling, not uttering a word.
A flicker of inexplicable anger rose in Jackson’s chest. Just as he was about to speak, a nurse hurried in: “Mr. Blackwell, Miss Bennett is complaining of pain again…”
“Reflect on your actions,” Jackson turned to leave. “And don’t cause any more trouble.”
In the following days, Scarlett remained disturbingly quiet.
Lily sent daily photos of Jackson caring for her, but Scarlett remained unmoved.
On the day of her discharge, Lily came in person.
“Sis, you’re being released after just three days,” she swung her bandaged right hand. “Do you know how long I’ll be hospitalized because of your attack? If Jackson hadn’t flown in specialists from abroad, my hand would be permanently damaged.”
“You deserved it,” Scarlett replied coldly.
Lily suddenly smiled. “Scarlett, why are you still acting so high and mighty? You’re clearly head over heels for Jackson, yet he personally sent you to jail. How did that feel? Soul–crushing, wasn’t it?”
Scarlett finally turned to look at her. “What are you trying to say?”
“Nothing much. Just thought I’d share a little story,” Lily sat on the edge of the bed. “You probably don’t know this, but Jackson and I were high school classmates. Every girl in school chased after him, but he never gave any of them a second glance.”
She stroked her bandage, her eyes gleaming with triumph. “Except for me.”
“He remembered I took my coffee without sugar, always carried an extra umbrella on rainy days, only accepted water from me during student council meetings, and only looked in my direction during school assemblies. All the girls were dying of jealousy, but he only smiled at me.”
“We were about to make things official when I got into that car accident trying to save him and had to go abroad for treatment. But we stayed in touch all these years.”
Scarlett’s fingernails dug deeper into her palms.
“Later, I told Jackson that my mom had married into a wealthy family, but there was this spoiled heiress who kept bullying her,” Lily laughed softly, “He immediately called your father.”
“Do you know what he said? ‘Let me discipline Scarlett.”

Chapter 9
Scarlett’s entire body shook. She had always thought her father had sent her to Jackson for “discipline” on his own
initiative…
“He was excellent at everything in school, including disciplining people,” Lily leaned closer to Scarlett’s ear. “He effortlessly made you fall for him, even got you into his bed.”
“I was furious at first, but when I found out he copied surveillance videos of every time you slept together…” Lily laughed softly. “That’s when I understood his intentions.”
“After all, the mighty Miss Devereaux is known for her pride. If your intimate videos were in my possession, would you still dare to bully anyone?”
“Jackson sleeping with you was probably just so he could give me those recordings later, ensuring I had leverage against you.”
Having said her piece, Lily savored Scarlett’s bloodless face before smiling and leaving the room.
s if she’d been struck by lightning, her entire body frozen.
out of the hospital like a madwoman, taking a taxi straight to Jackson’s estate.
Back at the villa, she frantically searched through drawers and cabinets.
Not in the study drawers.
Not in the bedroom safe.
Finally, in the computer in his private room, she found the encrypted folder.
When she opened it, Scarlett’s legs gave out, and she collapsed to the floor.
On the screen were intimate videos of her and Jackson.
From their first time to their last, meticulously organized and cataloged.
