Chapter 3
Benjamin whirled around to face Olivia in shock, demanding loudly, “Olivia, have you been lying to me this whole time?”
Olivia’s face went ashen, unable to speak for what felt like an eternity.
Someone in the gallery shouted, “Mr. Kingsley has a vast fortune. Ms. Olivia Parker just wanted to give him a son who could inherit the family business. What’s wrong with that?”
“Exactly! Even though Charlotte losing her child is pitiful, this is her karma for breaking up Mr. Kingsley and Ms. Olivia Parker!”
Olivia immediately seized the moment, tears welling in her eyes as she grabbed Benjamin’s hand. “Benjamin, you’ve been married to Charlotte for so many years without having a single child. I was just afraid people would mock you, so I wanted to have a child for you in Charlotte’s place.”
Benjamin remained silent, his eyes flickering with uncertainty.
Seeing this, Olivia hurriedly continued, “Besides, Charlotte’s crimes don’t stop there. Have you forgotten how she squandered all the trust fund money you’d saved up over the years?
“You were rushing to provide hurricane disaster relief, so you gave Charlotte your bank card to help purchase supplies. Instead, she took the money and lost it all in the stock market,

causing the deaths of so many disaster victims.”
The courtroom erupted in angry shouts.

“I remember Mr. Kingsley was reported for donation fraud back then and got severely criticized. So it was Charlotte who did it?”
“She dared to squander disaster relief money! Charlotte is truly greedy and vicious! Doesn’t she know that was life–saving money for so many people?”
The audience cursed angrily, hurling countless pieces of trash at my corpse. The white sheet covering my body shifted, revealing my withered fingers.
I felt my heart breaking and couldn’t catch my breath.
Benjamin recalled the past, his expression returning to cold disgust. “Judge Williams, please continue.”
The screen quickly switched. In the footage, I was being dragged up a mountain by several bodyguards.
They locked me in a run–down villa. I desperately pounded on the door, screaming hoarsely, “Let me out! I need to purchase disaster relief supplies! Benjamin is waiting for me!”
“Mrs. Kingsley, your mental illness is acting up again. Ms. Olivia Parker ordered us to confine you for two weeks.”

I stared wide–eyed as they walked away, then could only sink down against the wall in despair.
A few days earlier, on my birthday, Benjamin had come to my
room.
I was curled up by the bed, clutching a yellowed wedding photo in my hands.
He seemed somewhat moved and handed me a bank card.
“Charlotte, I can’t attend your birthday party tonight. I need to go to the disaster area. Time is urgent, so please help me purchase the relief supplies.
“Even though you’ve been confused these past years, you’re still my wife. I believe in your abilities.”
Olivia had overheard his words.
That night, she deliberately released a dog to scare me at the birthday party, causing me to fall into the pool.
I was soaked through, shivering from the cold. But she rolled up her sleeves crying, revealing fresh red scratches, and accused me in front of everyone: “Charlotte, it’s bad enough that you bully me every day using your status as Mrs. Kingsley, but now you’re even bullying a dog!”
I couldn’t defend myself. She forced me to kneel on the ground

and apologize to the dog.

My humiliating appearance was photographed by the media, and my scandal was discussed online for three days and nights.
Ever since I discovered the truth about Olivia causing my miscarriage, she not only tortured me in new ways every day but also played the victim in front of everyone.
Over the years, whenever Olivia was unhappy, Benjamin would imprison me without question in the suburban villa, despite my severe claustrophobia.
Years of physical and mental torture caused me to hallucinate from time to time, thinking everyone was trying to frame me.
I developed severe depression because of this, but they all thought I was crazy.
Even when I repeatedly told Benjamin the truth about Olivia framing me, he dismissed it as my delusion.
I thought we might still have a chance to repair our relationship, but I was too naive.
The villa was cold and damp. I curled up hugging myself when I heard knocking at the door.
“Charlotte, why are you locked up? Are you okay?”

Hearing my mother Lily’s voice, I burst into tears.
Ever since I married Benjamin against their advice, my parents had completely cut ties with me.
I never expected that in my most vulnerable and helpless moment, it would be my family who found me first.
I wiped away my tears and desperately stood on my tiptoes to show my face through the window.
“Mom, I’m fine. Benjamin is still waiting for me. Can you help me with something?”
Even though I was imprisoned, I couldn’t let those disaster victims suffer.
I entrusted Benjamin’s request and the black card to Lily, and she hurried away.
When my three–day confinement ended, I was met with Benjamin’s utterly disappointed gaze.
“Charlotte, I trusted you so much. How could you take all the disaster relief money I prepared and spend it on luxury goods? That was half my life’s savings!”
