Chapter 4
Nataly quickly knocked over the water glass on the bedside table.
The sound of the water glass shattering instantly caught Simeon’s attention. He had no time to care about the doctor and quickly walked to Nataly’s bedside, his face filled with worry and compassion.
“Baby, are you awake? Is there anywhere that hurts?”
She shook her head gently, her gaze passing over his shoulder to see the doctor’s hesitant
expression.
Simeon finally relaxed and then turned to the doctor, saying, “Doctor, what did you just say? I
didn’t catch that.”
He always felt like he had missed something important.
The doctor was about to speak when Nataly subtly shook her head.
The doctor understood, just sighed, and said, “The patient needs more rest,” then left the ward.
At one point, there were only Nataly and Simeon left in the VIP ward.
Simeon’s eyes were full of pity, reaching out to touch her face, but she turned her head away.
He seemed to understand something and immediately apologized, saying, “I’m sorry Nataly, it’s my fault. I didn’t notice that you also fell down the stairs. I thought…”
“Fortunately, you and the children are fine. Otherwise, I would never forgive myself for the rest of my life.”
“I promise that this kind of thing will not happen again in the future. Don’t be mad at me, okay?”
Nataly looked into his eyes, a genuine sense of remorse apparent in his gaze.
At that moment, she suddenly felt incredibly ironic.
Every word he said was so appealing, but which one is true and which one is false?
“I was tired.”
She drew back her hand, closed her eyes, and didn’t want to play along with this boring act with
him.
During her hospitalization, Simeon stayed by her side every step of the way.
He personally stewed soup for her, feeding her spoon by spoon; he accompanied her for check–ups

every day, noting down every instruction from the doctor; whenever she made a slight movement at night, he would immediately wake up and ask her what she needed.
Even the nurse said she had never seen such a considerate husband.
Nataly was always silent and reserved, often staring out of the window in a daze.
Simeon thought it was the hormonal changes during pregnancy that caused her low mood, so he took even more care of her.
On the day of discharge, Simeon prepared a grand surprise.

He took her to the most upscale restaurant, booking the entire floor, just to let her dine in peace.
After dinner, he accompanied her to visit luxury stores, buying anything she glanced at for a little
longer.
When night fell, fireworks suddenly bloomed by the river, forming the characters “I love you“.
“Do you like it?” Simeon wrapped his arms around her from behind, his chin resting on the top of her head, “I prepared it just for you.”
Nataly looked at the fireworks in the sky, and for a moment she thought she had gone back to the
past.
At that time, Simeon would also go to great lengths to please her, making her feel like the happiest person in the world.
When her hand unconsciously touched her flat stomach, all illusions shattered in an instant.
“What’s wrong?” Simeon noticed her stiffness, turned her to face him, “You’ve been unhappy lately, I’m very worried.”
He cupped her face, his thumb gently rubbing her cheek, “Do you want to see a psychologist? Prenatal depression is very common, don’t bear it alone, you can tell me anything on your mind.”
Nataly looked into his sincere eyes and suddenly asked, “If I am willing to be honest with you, can you be completely honest with me?”
Simeon paused for a moment, then smiled and said, “Of course, baby, we are husband and wife, we naturally need to be honest.”
Nataly took a deep breath and said, “So let me ask you, I heard that you had a first love that you really liked, and you haven’t gotten over the breakup for many years.”
She looked him straight in the eyes and said, “Have you let go now?”
