Chapter 17
Evelyn couldn’t help but laugh again. By the time she realized it, the laughter had already echoed in the room for a long time.
She made a gesture of refusal, with an indifferent expression on her face, saying, “Mom, you’re so wealthy, why don’t you help me pay off my debts too?”
Father–in–law on the side saw that something was wrong and couldn’t hold back, “Evelyn, you are a manager of a big company, at least earning 167,000 dollars a year, how could you be in debt?”
Upon hearing this, Evelyn’s face immediately changed, and she exclaimed in agony, “I lost a lot of money at the casino, at least 1,670,000 dollars in interest alone. I thought we didn’t have any money at home, so I kept struggling in silence. Now the people from the casino are saying that I only have three days, otherwise…”
The remaining words stayed in his throat, letting them imagine the consequences themselves.
Evelyn’s mother couldn’t believe it and quietly distanced herself a little, cautiously asking, “Really? Do they know our home address?”
Evelyn nodded and said, “I kept a photocopy of the property deed at home.”
As soon as these words were spoken, Evelyn’s mother stood up in shock, her finger trembling as she pointed at Evelyn, angrily scolding, “You, bitch, not only did you gamble yourself, but you also dragged us down with you.”
Evelyn pretended to be injured, covering her chest, and said in astonishment, “Mom, was it you who said that my brother wants to buy a house? I don’t have that much money, so I can only gamble. How about selling our house to repay the gambling debt first? I really don’t want to be
handicapped.”
Speaking, Evelyn covered her face and started fake crying.
The opposite in–laws‘ faces changed suddenly, and the girl even stood up and was about to leave.
The younger brother stood up to stop her, but she pushed him away, saying, “Don’t hold me back. You should first clean up the mess in your own family.”
The father–in–law’s family couldn’t wait and ran away, just like being chased by a dog.
My younger brother had a resentful expression on his face and complained, “Mom, what should we dof Fileen has left.”
The scene immediately became extremely ugly.

On one side was a complaining son, on the other side was a pitifully crying daughter, along with a massive debt of 1,670,000 dollars.
Evelyn’s mother gasped for breath and fainted.
My younger brother hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do, but Evelyn remained calm and
called an ambulance.
Hospital.
As soon as Evelyn’s mother opened her eyes, she saw Evelyn’s face magnified in front of her, causing her to immediately turn her head with a headache.
Evelyn rang the bell and called the doctor. The doctor said there was nothing serious, just a slight concussion, and that resting would be enough.
The siblings nodded.
After the doctor left, an awkward atmosphere filled the ward.
Evelyn saw that no one was speaking and spoke up to ask for money again, “Mom, can you lend me that money in advance?”
Evelyn’s mother was instantly infuriated and covered her head, starting to cry out “Ouch“.
Seeing this, the younger brother immediately pushed Evelyn and rushed forward like a plague, “Sis, you go first.”
Evelyn was unwilling to leave and they pushed each other a few times before reluctantly walking away, pretending to be unwilling.
As soon as she had just walked out of the ward, she heard angry shouting coming from inside the
TOOT
Evelyn smiled happily and turned away.
And then the show began.
Evelyn returned to the company and saw Reed looking at the documents with a displeased expression on his face.
The light dimmed, and Evelyn couldn’t see his expression, only hearing the sound of gritted teeth “Martin really is persistent”
Evelyn was puzzled, asking, “What’s going on?”
Reed put down the documents, and he would quickly switch to a serious mode whenever he talked
about work.
He coldly said, “The Easter Group’s project, he also wants to fight for.”
Evelyn was very puzzled, “Didn’t the previous news say that he wasn’t interested? Why is he suddenly wanting to compete?”
To be honest, the Wilson Group had a relatively difficult time competing as their development
differed from the other company.
Reed’s face darkened slightly as he voiced his speculation, “I think it was because of you.”
