Skyla’s POV
Heads were turning, jaws dropping.
Yeah, I know–1 look damn good in this dress, and I’m absolutely owning it.
Neither Selene nor Cassian has shown up for the shifting ceremony yet. They’re probably off somewhere getting it on.
I step outside, needing a breath of fresh air.
I’m truly happy for my brother and all my friends… so why couldn’t I have a mate like theirs?
Just as that thought crossed my mind, a chill ran down my spine. My breath caught when I felt a hand slide across the small of my back and a voice whispered in my ear, “My beautiful mate.”
Disgusted, I spun around and slapped him hard.
“Don’t ever touch me again,” I snarled. “Next time, I’ll rip your damn hand off.”
He had the audacity to claim I was his mate and insisted he had the right to touch me.
I looked him dead in the eye and said, “I will never be yours.‘
This fool–still reeking of my sister’s scent–had the nerve to ask me to forgive him and take him back. Said if he’d known I was this fine, he never would’ve rejected “a piece of ass” like me.
Disgusted, I turned and walked back into the woods, ignoring his shouts and pathetic promises to win me back.
I flipped him the middle finger and yelled over my shoulder, “NEVER!”—a smug smirk spreading across my face as I returned to the party.
Once back among the trees, I spotted my skanky sister. She was wearing a dress that left absolutely nothing to the imagination. Her makeup was ruined, and tears streaked down her face.
Turns out she’d just discovered her fated mate was one of our warriors, Zayden.
But she’d rejected him.
Why? Because Cassian told her that if she slept with him, he’d make her his chosen Luna.
Only, now he’s told her the truth–he lied.
Selene tried to go crawling back to Zayden, but he’d already found his second–chance mate.

My sister tried to attack his mate, but Zayden stepped between them, protecting what was his.

Just as the moment drew near for us to shift into our wolves, my father stepped forward to make an
announcement.
He said we had a surprise visitor. That he’d been holding back a message from the Moon Goddess until the time was right.
According to the message, this wolf is someone of great importance–he’s a Golden Wolf.
And even more shocking? His mate is also a Golden Wolf and his second chance–together, they would be the most powerful mated pair in the entire world.
Selene perked up instantly. “I just know it’s me,” she said smugly. “So screw you, Zayden and Cassian.”
Then she turned to me and hissed, “Skyla, I’ve always been jealous of you. That’s why I treated you
like crap.
But now? You’ll be the one jealous of me, because I’m going to be powerful.”
