Chapter 26
Evelyn’s mother trembled and hesitated as she looked around, briefly locking eyes with Evelyn.
Evelyn hesitated for a moment, feeling hopeless, yet sensing a glimmer of possibility.
The next moment, she turned her head to look at her brother lying beside her.
Evelyn’s brother was too noisy and got knocked out with a single chop.
A hint of struggle flashed in Evelyn’s mother’s eyes as she gritted her teeth and asked, “How would you treat my daughter?”
Evelyn’s heart sank to the bottom of the lake in an instant, without causing any ripples.
This was going to be abandoned.
The big man listened and burst into laughter, “What a mother! You want a house, right?”
Evelyn’s mother fell silent for a moment, then straightened up and looked at Evelyn. Surprisingly, there was a hint of guilt in her expression. “Evelyn, you have many talents. If you work with them, you can earn a lot of money. Once you have earned enough, you can come out. Your brother’s wedding is a big event and we can’t delay it, you know…”
Evelyn’s eyes welled up with bitterness, even though she had mentally prepared herself, the moment of being abandoned still couldn’t stop the heartache.
She hoarsely asked, “Mom, do you really think… it’s just about making money?”
The heart–wrenching issue did not receive a response.
Evelyn’s mother simply tilted her head to the side and remained silent.
“Okay, we will go to handle the procedures tomorrow,” the big man said decisively, deciding to put
an end to this farce.
Evelyn didn’t sleep all night, keeping her eyes open and staring at her mother until dawn.
The sky light broke suddenly.
Evelyn squinted her eyes, and her crimson eyes, unable to control the tears, streamed down due to
the brightness of the light.
Finally, all of this was about to come to an end.
With a sense of relief and liberation, she suppressed the urge to embrace the sun and sent a

message to Reed, requesting a day off.
Immediately, a few people gathered their belongings and prepared to go to handle the procedures.
First, the mother–daughter relationship was terminated, and then the transfer procedures were
carried out.
Due to legal restrictions, the two individuals then drafted an agreement stipulating that the
alimony would be replaced by the house. From then on, they were no longer in a parent–child relationship.
Having prepared video evidence and documentary evidence, Evelyn promptly completed the transfer procedures.
As she walked out of the door, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Although it was not possible to legally sever ties, there would be no way for Evelyn’s mother to ask for money again in the future.
The sunshine was very bright, just like her heart at this moment, completely sweeping away
darkness.
Starting a new life.
After Evelyn’s mother finished the procedures, she left in a hurry without saying a word.
Evelyn looked at her back, expressionless.

The leader beside couldn’t help it and spat, “A tiger doesn’t eat its own cubs, this person’s heart is
truly black to the core.”
The other few people nodded in agreement.
Evelyn stopped evaluating and greeted, “Thank you, brothers, for the evening. We will go eat later and I will give you the money.”
These fierce and menacing men were actually bodyguards hired by Reed.
Just to come and perform a play.
Who knew it would go so smoothly? Some people were still thinking that they hadn’t had enough of it yet.
Several people marched towards the hotel, with everyone around them keeping their distance, afraid of getting into trouble.

As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I saw Reed standing in the lobby, looking a bit anxious.
Evelyn walked in with a smile and asked, “Did you wait for a long time?”
Reed looked up, adjusted his gold–rimmed glasses, and glanced around. Seeing that everything was
fine, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He sighed and said, “As long as you’re okay, let’s eat first.”
Evelyn’s heart warmed up, and she shrugged as if nothing had happened, saying, “With a few big brothers around, how could there be any problem?”
Reed greeted everyone to go eat first, and then pulled people to the corner.
Evelyn shook her wrist and looked puzzled, asking, “What’s wrong?”
In the next moment, her face was pressed against his strong chest.
