Chapter 39
Martin’s eyes were filled with pain as he thought about their union. “Was it because the Peterson family sponsored you?”
Evelyn frowned, feeling very displeased with this statement.
“No, it was Reed’s parents who sponsored me, it has nothing to do with Reed. I wouldn’t compromise myself out of gratitude.”
Speaking of Reed, love shone in Evelyn’s eyes, “His love was passionate and straightforward, I could feel his care, trust, and respect for me. He was always on the same side as me, unconditionally supporting and loving me.
“My stomach was not well, and he would go learn cooking to make meals for me. Whenever I needed him, he was always there.”
He was wealthy, handsome, and had many women throwing themselves at him, but he would politely reject them. He would openly declare our relationship, wanting the whole world to know.
Evelyn said a lot, and Martin’s mind kept flashing back to the past moments he had spent with
Evelyn.
Time and time again, because of Isabel’s misunderstandings and lack of trust in her, he didn’t even tell anyone about their marriage.
When she needed him the most, he was absent.
Until this moment, he realized how pale his love for Evelyn was.
Evelyn did not notice Martin’s uneasiness and continued speaking, “Being with him, even if we did nothing, my heart was filled with joy.”
She paused and looked at the pale man in front of her. “Mr. Wilson, I believe you could also meet someone who loves you wholeheartedly and whom you also love.”
After saying that, she left straight away.
Martin sat stiffly in his wheelchair, watching Evelyn’s figure recede, a bitter taste welling up in his eyes, gradually blurring his vision.
He used to have that wonderful her, but he didn’t cherish her and lost her.
When hope appeared again, it was discovered that things had changed and she no longer loved him.

Hospital.
It was already late at night, and the hospital was very cold.
Martin lay on the hospital bed, staring at the ceiling without blinking.
Until my eyes became sore, leaving behind tears of physical exhaustion.
He recalled Evelyn’s words over and over again, each word and sentence felt like a severe punishment, cutting into his heart one by one.
Staring into the pitch–black darkness, a hoarse sob escaped his throat.
The fluctuation of the electrocardiogram was disrupted, emitting an urgent alarm sound.
The doctors and nurses rushed in.
The lights suddenly turned on, and Martin was stabbed, causing him to cry incessantly.
“Martin, can you hear me… no response…‘
“Irregular heartbeat, tranquilizers were used…”
In the next moment, all the surrounding sounds disappeared.
He was immersed in the beautiful dreams of only Evelyn.

A few days later, the issue of hanging banners was resolved with Martin’s involvement.
He had the lawyer draft an apology letter and make a clarification statement.
It was Isabel who gave the money and found a few thugs downstairs to hang banners falsely accusing Evelyn.
Evelyn also defended her rights and immediately called the police. Isabel and the troublemakers were detained for spreading rumors.
Upon hearing this ending, Juliet exclaimed angrily, “This Isabel is such a bitch. Even though people don’t like her, she still tries to please them. You are also innocent. It has nothing to do with you. It’s just causing trouble for yourself.”
Evelyn dealt with her work, silently listening without being affected at all.
Juliet, seeing her calm demeanor, sighed deeply and said, “You have such strong mental resilience. There are even rumors that you have an ambiguous relationship with Martin, that you are playing

both sides, but you seem to not care at all…”
“The mouth is on someone else’s body, you can’t block them one by one,” Evelyn said indifferently.
Juliet was about to say something when she casually glanced at Reed at the door and teasingly said, “Oh, Mr. Peterson is here. I won’t disturb you lovebirds.”
With a smile on his face, he bent over and playfully walked out of the door.
