Chapter 15
When Rod returned home, Rod’s father had just taken Ivy’s mother out.
The house was very quiet, with no one around. There was only the sound of his footsteps on the stairs, thumping.
He didn’t care about anything else, there was only one thought in his mind, which was to open that
door.
The door that he had opened countless times.
This time, after pushing it open, Rod saw an empty space.
Bathroom, cloakroom, study room…
He knew by heart what was placed in every corner of the room.
But now, as far as the eye can see, nothing was left.
Those things that carried their secrets are now nowhere to be found.
It was not until Rod saw it with his own eyes that he finally believed Ivy had truly left.
In an instant, the psychological defense line he had built up high collapsed.
The surging panic and despair took over his nerves.
He started trembling uncontrollably, searching around in confusion.
He searched everywhere, in the wardrobe, on the table, behind the door, all the places where people
could hide.
The entire room was in a mess, still without any trace.
Finally, he placed his hope on the messy bed, lifted the blanket, but still found nothing.
He hurried back to the room and opened the letter.
The letter was brief and hastily written, containing only a few sentences.
The first sentence mentioned breaking up and wished him and Yvette a lifetime of happiness together.
The second sentence is to tell him that the thirty million in her account was the money she returned to the Archer family.

The third sentence states that the time when his parents divorced was two years earlier than the time it was announced, and at that time, Ivy’s mother did not yet know Rod’s father.
Each one, like a sharp blade, stabbed straight into Rod’s heart.
He felt as if his heart was being tortured, layer by layer, with his flesh and blood being scraped away, causing him almost unbearable pain.
He became sober and desperately realized something.
Ivy already knew the secret he had hidden in his heart.
The secret that he thought was flawless and went smoothly, was labeled as “revenge“.
Unbeknownst to him, it had already been leaked.
After knowing the truth, Ivy remained silent and never thought of retaliating.
What Rod had imagined was the despair she would reveal after knowing the truth, the harmless retaliations she would make, and even the hysterical wailing.
None of it happened.
From beginning to end, she only did one thing.
Left him.
After being lured by him with careful planning and great effort, Ivy, like a moth to a flame, fell head over heels for him and self–destructed, without even uttering a word of hatred.
He deceived her trust, played with her emotions, and wanted to retaliate against her beloved
mother.
One by one, each and every one of them were remarkable achievements that he took great pride in.
But she didn’t care at all.
She didn’t hate him.
How can one not hate?
Can you really not hate as long as you have truly loved?
Still, from beginning to end, Iyy was just playing along, accompanying him in this sometimes boring, sometimes interesting drama, right?
As soon as this thought emerged, Rod felt like he had fallen into an ice cellar, with every corner of

his body being invaded by bone–chilling coldness.
He couldn’t accept the fact that Ivy didn’t hate him.
Because the opposite of hate is love.
Not hating also means not loving.
Rather than the outcome of her not loving him, Rod would prefer to accept her hatred and endure her revenge.
He tried his best to deny this fact, but when he saw the empty bedroom with no one inside, he
couldn’t convince himself no matter what.
Hate and non–hate emotions entangled and echoed in his mind, attempting to determine a winner
between them.
The mental pressure brought by the struggle and the cracks caused by constant pulling were about to make Rod’s head explode.
He held his head and fell to the ground in pain, violently pounding his temples with his hands, trying to save himself from eternal damnation.
In this moment, he was like going back to the rainy night when he was 10 years old, becoming that child abandoned by his mother again.
And this time, he tasted all the consequences.
It was all his fault, he brought it upon himself.
