Chapter 11
Reagan pushed Julia away.
“Selina, you finally woke up. Are you feeling okay? Don’t worry. I’ve dealt with all those who bullied you. Axel’s eyes were red, and I had only lain there for one night. Why did they act as if they had not seen me in decades?
“I’m fine, Axel. Don’t worry.” Then, I looked at Reagan again and added softly. “Reagan, did Dad scold you?”
Reagan paused. Feeling wronged, he pouted as he started tearing up. “No, Dad didn’t scold me.”
“You’re lying.” I hated it when Reagan lied to me, but he insisted that Axel did not scold him. I knew what Axel was like. He must have scolded Reagan. I gently held Reagan in my arms to comfort him before glaring at Axel again.
Feeling guilty, Axel stood in place, somewhat at a loss.
Reagan apologized, “Mom, I will never let you get hurt again. It’s all my fault this time. I’m sorry, Mom.”
My heart almost melted as I looked at my good-looking son. “Protecting you is my job. I don’t blame you.”
Julia took Reagan outside, leaving Axel and me alone. Axel and I were the only ones left in the ward. He was stubborn and wanted me to take off the hospital gown to check my wound. The doctor had bandaged it, so he would not see anything.
Axel started acting cute like Reagan.
I said, “Jeez, fine, I’ll show you.”
Axel blew gently on the wound and it was ticklish. “Selina, I promise that there won’t be a next time.”
I smiled helplessly. This incident had made him uneasy. “Okay, I believe you. I love you the most. I’ll cherish my life very much. After all, I want to be with you forever.”
What I said made Axel smile. He was as easily pleased as a kid.
I could go home to rest, but Axel and Reagan insisted that I stay in the hospital. They also found many doctors to confirm my physical health over and over. They only let me leave the hospital when they knew I was in good shape.
When I was packing my luggage, the ward’s door was suddenly pushed open. I had my back against whoever came, so I thought it was Reagan. “Reagan, get my comb.”
“Selina, it’s me.”
My hands paused while I fixed my clothes. I turned around to see Levi, whom I had not seen for a long time. His face was still
swollen.
“What do you want from me?” I asked.
Levi must have somehow avoided Axel’s bodyguards.
I was a little hesitant to act rashly when I thought of Rosalie.
Levi seemed to have sensed my mood and hurriedly comforted me. “Selina, don’t be afraid. I won’t hurt you. I just…..”
“Just what?” I asked somewhat irritably.
“I still love you, Selina. I can’t stand the thought of you marrying and having children with another man. You still have feelings for me, don’t you? We can start over.”
Levi was covered in injuries, but it was obvious that he had dressed up. He wore the suit that I gave him. I remembered him saying the suit was ugly and shabby.
When I was silent, Levi tried to come up and hold my hand, but I avoided him in disgust.
“Start over? Levi, when you kicked me out of the clerk’s office and made me look like a joke, did you think of the consequences? Don’t you find it disgusting to say you love me now?”
Levi hurriedly explained, “Rosalie was pregnant with my child. I couldn’t just stand by. You wouldn’t want to see a child without a father either, do you?”
I sneered. “You’re really shameless. Did the child pop up out of nowhere?”
