Chapter 10
As the photos and DNA results flashed across the screen, Thomas’s eye twitched, his knuckles turning white as he
gripped the armrest.
The rest of the courtroom turned in unison to stare at Madison, a chill crawling down their spines.
“Holy hell… if this is true, it’s horrifying.”
“Twin sisters switching places like that? I wouldn’t have survived round one.”
Even I felt a chill crawl down my spine.
Looking back now–it all made sense. And it was chilling.
“They’re fake! All of it!” Madison shouted, voice trembling. “If I really had a twin sister, then where is she?! Why isn’t she
here?!”
She was grasping at straws.
Right then, a bailiff stepped forward and whispered something to the judge.
His eyes lit up.
“The police have just submitted crucial evidence. The court will now begin a live video statement.”
The courtroom screen flickered.
A detention room came into view, and in it–sat a woman in cuffs.
“Name?” asked the officer.
“Lillian Reed,” she replied.
“Any family?”
“Just one. My twin sister, Madison Reed. She’s currently working as Brandon Lancaster’s assistant at Lancaster Group.”
The room went silent.
Everyone’s eyes shifted back to Madison–who now stood frozen, face drained of color.
She staggered back two steps, her mouth opening and closing, muttering in disbelief, “That idiot. She’s always been good at hiding… how the hell did she get caught now…”
Brandon looked like a corpse.
White as a sheet.
Then-“You disgrace to this family!” Thomas suddenly roared, coughing violently before swinging his cane hard against Brandon’s side.
“You really did this? To her? Claire has stood by your side through everything, and this is how you repay her?!”
“You betrayed her. You betrayed us! You’re no son of mine!”
Evelyn rushed to hold him upright before he collapsed from rage.

“Enough!” Brandon suddenly snapped, breaking down completely. His voice turned wild, desperate.
“Shut up, you old fool!”
“So what if I lose the marriage? So what if Claire walks out?!”
“I’ll still live better than all of you! Madison’s got millions in offshore accounts–I’ll be set for life!”
The courtroom gasped.
Even Thomas and Evelyn froze, stunned into silence.
And then-
The light in their eyes faded. What had been outrage…turned into something far heavier.
Disappointment.
I let out a cold laugh, folding my arms.
“Brandon, are you really this stupid… or just trying to play dumb?”
“Go ahead, take a wild guess–why do you think Lillian got caught?”
