Goodbye 15

Goodbye 15

Chapter 15

She was getting ready to go abroad for a conference on integrated elderly care, and she didn’t have time to waste.

Tracie knew that, given Grover’s usual indifference, he might not come out to meet her.

That was fine.

If he didn’t come out, she would wait at the gate of the villa for him.

On the other end of the line, a woman’s voice came through, neither too close nor too far. “Grover, who’s calling?”

Even through the phone, Tracie immediately recognized Juliana’s voice. She couldn’t help but laugh quietly to herself. It had only been a little over a week since Tracie moved out, and Juliana was already eager to move in?

If she was in such a hurry, why not just sign the divorce papers?

As Tracie pondered this, she heard Grover’s voice. “Come to the cafe downstairs at my office tomorrow at noon.”

“Okay!” Tracie quickly hung up the phone.

‘She actually hung up that quickly?’

Grover felt a heaviness in his chest.

“What’s wrong, Grover?” Juliana immediately recognized the call had been from Tracie.

‘It seemed like Tracie wants to come back?’ she thought.

‘After being away for a week, with Grover ignoring her and Oliver no longer needing her, is Tracie really going to shamelessly return?

‘Where does she get the confidence-and the narcissism-to think that way?’

“It’s nothing,” Grover replied flatly.

Juliana didn’t ask further.

She never questioned Tracie’s situation.

With her own charm and her relationship with Grover, even ten women like Tracie wouldn’t stand a chance.

So she didn’t care to waste her time on Tracie.

That night, Juliana stayed over at the Stanton family home.

After personally giving Wendi a bath, drying her hair, and getting her settled into bed, Juliana realized just how much

effort it took to care for a child.

Even telling a bedtime story required all her patience and creativity. It took over an hour before Wendi finally compli- mented her, “Well, you’re a little better than my mom at telling stories.”

After more than an hour of storytelling, Wendi insisted on holding her neck while she slept, not letting her leave.

So, Juliana spent the entire night in the children’s room.

Meanwhile, Grover had a video conference with several Slaport partners at 9 PM, which stretched late into the night, lasting until 2 or 3 AM.

That night, Juliana felt a restless unease she couldn’t quite explain.

But she couldn’t exactly show it.

Grover, on the other hand, seemed full of energy.

The next day, he followed his usual routine and went to the office.

The first thing he did when he got there was call for the legal advisor. “How’s the divorce agreement coming along?”

The legal advisor responded honestly, “Mr. Stanton, please give me a few more days. Since you’re the head of a large corporation, I need to refer to many legal clauses…”

“Please hurry,” Grover said curtly.

He had made plans to meet Tracie at the cafe downstairs at noon to discuss the divorce. Since the agreement wasn’t ready yet, he had pushed it to the back of his mind.

Tracie arrived at the cafe downstairs at Stanton Group exactly at 11:30 AM.

She sat there for over two hours.

By 2 PM, Tracie could no longer wait and decided to call Grover.

He answered quickly, but only said, “I’m busy, no time!” before hanging up.

Tracie was speechless.

If Grover were standing in front of her right now, she would have thrown her coffee in his face.

Though she usually kept a calm demeanor, she couldn’t help but feel a surge of anger and frustration.

For all these years, she had loved Grover so much that she lost herself in the process.

And that was why he treated her like this-like she didn’t matter.

Since he wouldn’t meet her, she had no choice but to put the divorce on hold and focus on preparing for her upcoming trip abroad.
