But she really didn’t like Tracie.

There was a huge gap, a sense of awkwardness between them.

When Grover and Juliana took her places, everyone praised them. Juliana was full of energy and confidence, like her best friend, like the big sister she always wanted.

Tracie wasn’t like that.

Grover didn’t like Tracie and kept his distance from her.

Her grandpa, grandma, aunt, and even Oliver all disliked Tracie.

No one in the family cared about Tracie.

Tracie could be selfish, cruel, and downright nasty.

Tracie had fought with Juliana over a pearl necklace and refused to save Oliver’s life. Those things made her dislike Tracie even more.

She really didn’t want Tracie to come back to this house.

But… the stories Tracie told her were the best. Even better than Juliana’s.

Tracie was gentle when she bathed her-never too hot.

When Tracie tucked her in at night, she never fell asleep. No matter when Wendi woke up, Tracie was always right there by her side.

Tracie made her favorite dishes.

Thinking about these things made Wendi feel a deep sadness.

Suddenly, she had an idea. “Dad, I’ve got a great idea! You and Mom should get a divorce, marry Juliana, and then we can make Mom our housekeeper-she’ll cook and do laundry for the three of us. That way, the house won’t be so messy, I can still hear Mom tell me stories, and we’ll all get to eat her cooking. You, Juliana, and I can be a family to- gether!”

Grover was speechless.

He hadn’t exactly ruled out the idea.

He didn’t mind keeping Tracie at home, since she was really good at cooking and cleaning.

But he’d need to discuss it with Juliana first.

Even if Juliana agreed, it would only work if Tracie didn’t cause trouble.

“Do you think that’s a good idea, Dad?” Wendi asked sweetly.

“I’ll give it a try,” Grover replied. “How about you go take a bath and get some sleep first?”

“Okay!” Wendi obediently went off to take a bath.

The next day

Monday

As soon as Grover arrived at the office, the legal team came in with the divorce agreement.

He handed over the document, “Mr. Stanton, this is the most thorough divorce agreement. It guarantees the other par- ty won’t get a single cent.”

“Okay.” Grover nodded.

He had no feelings left for Tracie, so he wasn’t planning on giving her any of the assets.

Once the legal team left, he picked up the office phone and called the family butler, Rodger.

The call was quickly answered. Grover asked, “Rodger, how much is the monthly salary for a housekeeper at Stanton family?”

“There are four levels,” Rodger explained. “Housekeepers who have been with the family for over twenty years are provided for in retirement. Those with ten years of service earn over 5,000 dollars a month, and all their expenses- food, clothing, and others-are covered by the family. Five-year veterans earn about 3,000 dollars a month, plus they get a housekeeper uniform. New hires start at 2,000 dollars a month, with a six-month probation period.”

“I see. Please prepare a contract for a housekeeper at 2,000 dollars a month. The employee is Tracie.”

Rodger was speechless.

Tracie’d never taken a penny from the Stanton family.

Now that she wasn’t Mrs. Stanton anymore, she was being hired as a housekeeper?

Well, at least she would get a salary, even if it was a low-tier position.

Rodger couldn’t help but feel a bit of sadness.

“Understood… I’ll get the contract ready, Mr. Stanton.” Rodger’s voice was filled with emotion.

Grover didn’t catch it.

He was still thinking about Juliana.

Juliana was strong-willed and independent. ‘Would she be upset seeing Tracie work as a housekeeper at the family home?’ he wondered.

If Juliana disagreed, he wouldn’t even consider giving Tracie the chance to be a housekeeper at Stanton family.

For now, the priority was to finalize the divorce.
