Chapter 6
“No,” Sarah snapped, shooting Allison a scornful glare. “You haven’t suffered enough yet.
“What more
do
you want from me?” Allison asked, her voice flat, her eyes dull and lifeless.
Sarah’s lips curled into a satisfied smile as she glanced around the party, her tone light and cruel.
“I want you ruined. I want you humiliated. I want you to be nothing but a disgraced joke everyone spits on.”
A chill ran down Allison’s spine.
Then, without warning, Sarah shoved a sharp brooch into Allison’s hand and forced it against her own face.
The jagged metal tore open Sarah’s cheek blood immediately spilled down her skin.
She let out a scream. “Oh my God! Allison–why?!!
Gasps rippled across the room as all heads turned toward them.

“I’ve never wanted to hurt you!” Sarah cried out, collapsing to the floor, voice trembling. “I love Alex, but I never meant to come between you two! I just wanted to be there for him–just wanted to care for him in his final days…”
Tears rolled down her face as she sobbed dramatically.
“If you want to kill me, fine–but let me stay with him until the end. Please. I’ll give you Infinity. I’ll give you everything I have. Just don’t do this now.”
And then–like it was a scene out of a bad soap opera–she dropped to her knees in front of Allison.
The ballroom tell silent.
The media had been relentlessly portraying Allison as the homewrecker who tore Alex and Sarah apart–and this scene only fueled the
fire
Whispers erupted like wildfire. Disgusted glances. Phones raised. Some were already livestreaming.
The brooch slipped from Allison’s blood–stained fingers and clattered to the floor.
Before she could react, Alexander stormed over and grabbed her wrist hard.
His
seyes were cold and filled with fury. “Allison, how dare you lay a hand on her?”
Allison winced in pain. Her face remained expressionless, drained of energy.
She didn’t even bother defending herself.
The nail that had broken earlier was still bleeding. Her hand was swollen and raw. Anyone who looked closely could tell–there was no way she had the strength to hurt Sarah
But Alex didn’t look. He never did,
“Call the police,” he growled, pushing her away like she was filth.
Then he bent down and gently scooped Sarah Into his arms.
Allison barely had time to catch her breath before his security team dragged her outside and shoved her into the back of a van.
They took her straight to the city holding center.
The moment she arrived, she was shoved into a filthy cell with a group of aggressive women who clearly had no problem getting their hards dirty.
They pounced on her before the door even closed.
Fists. Kicks. Hair ripped out by the roots. Someone slammed her face into the floor. Another pressed her head into a reeking puddle. She
couldn’t breathe.
Then came the boots. One by one, they stomped on her hands–fingers snapping like dry twigs
Within an hour, Allison was barely conscious,
She wanted to die.
Maybe it would be better that way.
At least the Winters Group shares were back in her name.
If she died, maybe she could finally apologize to her mother.
She should’ve listened when her mother begged her to stay away from Alexander–to marry into the Vanderbilt family instead.
If only she had.
She really thought she could survive until it was all over.
But now she wasn’t so sure
Somewhere between pain and unconsciousness, she thought she saw someone.
A figure with graying hair.
Her father?
After her mother’s death, he had handed the company off to his executive assistant and left the country. She hadn’t seen him since.
He hated her. Hated that she had broken her mother’s heart. Hated that she hadn’t even made it to her mother’s funeral.
Tears blurred her vision
She was hallucinating
There’s no way he’d come back for her.
She let go. Let her eyes fall shut, waiting for the end.
“LILI..
A familiar voice, trembling, cracked through the fog.
“I’m sorry I was late.”
Her eyes fluttered open.
“Dad?” Her lips trembled. “Dad–I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
“I’ve got you,” he whispered through tears, lifting her broken body into his arms. “You’re safe now. I’m taking you home. Just hold on a little longer.”
Allison clung to him, sobbing as they stumbled out of the detention center.
The moment they reached the car, she blacked out.
Her father brought her back to the Winters estate, terrified that Alexander might try to come after her again.
He hired a private medical team and had them set up Inside the house for round–the–clock care.
But even as she lay unconscious, the world outside raped.

News of the “Infinity” launch had made Sarah a household name. She’d gained a massive online following overnight.
So when rumors spread that Allison had “attacked” her, mobs of angry fans, vloggers, and self–righteous reporters swarmed the property–claiming they were there to seek justice.
Allison’s father ordered his private security to keep them out, but the crowd grew violent.
They hurled rocks, smashed windows, and rammed the front gate like a mob on the verge of breaking through.
“Come out and apologize to Sarah!” someone screamed, as they stormed up the driveway toward the house.
