Chapter 10
My mother had known all along that I had everything prepared.
Thinking about how Quinn would probably drag me into talk of remarriage and becoming stepmother to his bastard made me sick.
But not wanting to miss the excitement, I went anyway.
Seeing me come, Quinn was overjoyed.
During this time, the company’s business had declined daily, reaching the brink of bankruptcy in less than half a year.
The Marshall family, once influential in Shanghai, was now no different from drowned rats.
Quinn had been tormented plenty by Lacey too, his face much more haggard and his whole person thinner.
“Shea, I knew you still had feelings for me. Don’t worry, I’ll announce to everyone shortly that you’re the child’s mother!”
I raised my hand to stop his words.
“Don’t. I don’t have that fortune.”
Quinn said urgently:
“My child is your child. Don’t say such things about yourself.”
I looked at him with a half-smile, taking out documents I’d prepared long ago.
“You can’t say that. This child has no blood relation to me, and no blood relation to you either!”
Quinn glanced at the documents I brought, his expression changing drastically.
“Impossible! This is fake! Lacey’s child is clearly mine-we did tests when she was pregnant!”
Grandmother Marshall also pointed at my nose, cursing:
“You’re just jealous that Lacey can bear sons! How dare you say this child isn’t our Marshall blood-I never realized before how vicious your heart
was!”
Unmoved, I said flatly:
“That time you went for testing, I made some arrangements. If you don’t believe it, you can take this child for several more paternity tests.”
“I couldn’t have bought off everyone, could I?”
Seeing the expression on my face, Quinn was already half-convinced, his lips trembling.
“Shea, why would you do this? It was clearly this bitch who destroyed our relationship-why are you still protecting her!”
I laughed mockingly.
“If you hadn’t been certain she was carrying your child, would you have agreed to divorce me?”
Quinn’s face lost all color. He wanted to argue further but couldn’t say a word.
I pronounced calmly and coldly.
“Quinn Marshall, the child I miscarried will be your last child in this lifetime! You personally killed your own bloodline!”
Having enjoyed enough of these people’s desperate, anguished faces, I turned and left without hesitation.

Behind me came Grandmother Marshall’s crazed curses and Lacey’s screams, but I couldn’t be bothered to look back.
They should have thought-how could someone like Lacey, so promiscuous and willing to debase herself as a mistress, possibly rely on only Quinn
Marshall as her meal ticket!
Within a few days, I heard that Lacey and her child had been thrown out of the Marshall family together.
When they were cast out, she nearly lost her life.
As for the Marshall family, they became the laughingstock of their circle because of the full month celebration incident. After going bankrupt, they slunk away from Beverly Hills in disgrace.
The once-mighty Marshall family was reduced to ashes in an instant.
As for me, I was currently vacationing in Provence, half-heartedly going through blind dates my mother arranged.
As for Quinn Marshall, I rarely thought of him anymore.
My life would continue moving forward.
