Chapter 1
When the Auclair family was on the brink of bankruptcy, I offered to marry Peter Auclair to pull them back from ru-
- in.
Peter, always the playboy, was grateful for my help and got a vasectomy on the spot, swearing to stay faithful to me forever.
He took me across mountains and lakes, saying he wanted to leave traces of our love everywhere we went.
Three years later, he got me drunk, stole my phone, broke into the Durands‘ residence, and set up a trap that ruined my family overnight.
My parents overdosed on sleeping pills while my sister was dragged into an alley by his men, where she was humili- ated and filmed. The video was then auctioned off to entertain filthy rich heirs.
I begged Peter to spare my family, but he just grabbed my face and forced me to watch my parents‘ bodies being cre- mated.
“You thought marrying me was some noble act? Sure, everyone in the city praised your family for saving us. But you know what they called me?
“They said I was just a dog clinging to you, Felicia Durand!”
He destroyed the Durand family with his own hands, just to prove he was better than us–that he wasn’t a dog.
He ripped the divorce papers and stuffed them into my mouth, vowing to make me watch as he rose to power.
To humiliate me even further, he brought a different woman home every night. The house became his harem, and I
was their servant.
“How much is the Durand family worth now? With your background, serving them food and rubbing their feet fits you perfectly.”
Whatever. When I dragged him out of that avalanche years ago, shards had gotten into my heart. I only had three days left to live.

I jumped out the window and escaped Peter’s house just to gather my family’s belongings.
Everything valuable from the Durand family had been sold. Only a few personal items from the house remained.
I was worried my parents might be cold in the afterlife. My sister might not have clothes to wear.
But before I even stepped inside, the residence was buzzing with noise. Peter’s laughter pierced straight through me, making my heart twist.

When he saw me, his hand holding the cigarette paused briefly. Then, he asked with a wave, “What’s this? Is the Du- rand orphan here to bid on her own family’s leftovers?”
Clenching my fists, I felt my throat burn. I couldn’t believe what I just heard.
“What did you say? Peter, they were your family too.”
His eyes turned cold. “When your family used mine for clout, no one cared that I was their son–in–law.”
Then, he wrapped his arm around the woman next to him. “Miranda, pick whatever you want. I got you.”
On stage, they were auctioning off my mom’s earrings and comb.
The woman’s eyes lit up as she raised her paddle. “Eight hundred thousand! Mr. Auclair, I really like this one!”
Another woman looked over with shimmery eyes. “Can you let me have it? I like it too.”
Peter burst out laughing. “Alright, Sarah. Since Miranda is new, let her have it. I promise the next one’s yours, okay? Listen up, darlings. If you want something, just bid! If someone beats you to it, come to me. I’ll get it for you no mat- ter what!”
The crowd of women cheered, raising their paddles one after another. My parents‘ jewelry and clothes were auctioned off in no time, and I couldn’t do a thing.
Then, my sister’s underwear was brought out.
“Ladies and gents, this is the real prize. It comes with a bonus video. Starting bid–1.5 million dollars!”
The rich young men all started bidding, their eyes glinting with undisguised hunger.
The women rolled their eyes. “Ugh, can you believe people are paying for someone’s used underwear? No thanks. I don’t want STDs!”
But Sarah smirked and turned to Peter. “Peter, why don’t you get this and give it to Felicia? She’s broke now and probably can’t even afford new clothes. It’s better for her to wear her sister’s old clothes than some cheap junk off the
streets.”
Peter curled his lips, giving me a scornful look.
“Good idea. I’ll make a bid.”
He then hooked a finger into the underwear and tossed it onto my head, along with a USB stick..
“Since you’re bankrupt, take it. Maybe you’ll need it to make a living someday.”
I let out a hollow laugh. “You once said you’d stay celibate for me because I was scared of pain. And now this?”
He snorted. “Are you dumb? I said that because I didn’t want to touch you. I found you disgusting, so I made up an excuse, yet you actually believed it?”
My chest exploded with pain as if it were tearing my heart apart. It turned out that heartbreak really was agony.

I clutched my chest and collapsed to the floor pale–faced, but Peter just stepped over me with his crowd like I didn’t exist. “Quit faking it. The only people who ever pitied you are dead.”
“Wait.”
I stopped him.
“I’ll make the highest bid for the next item–no matter what it takes.”
