Chapter 6

The moment the expressionless boy saw me, there was panic on his face. He rushed into my arms. “Mom, what happened to you? Who bullied you? Why is there so much blood on your hand?”

Hearing the word “Mom”, everyone shifted their gazes from Reagan to me. The guests who coldly watched me being bullied widened their eyes in disbelief.

Reagan’s embrace was still as warm as ever. My gloomy mood vanished instantly.

I crouched down so that Reagan could look me in the eye. I lovingly reached out and gently pinched Reagan’s chubby face. “I’m

fine.”

Reagan took my hand with concern and gently blew on the wound, his eyes tearing up slightly. “Mom, who on earth dared to treat you like this?”

Children were just children. They shed tears when they saw adults hurt. The way Reagan looked made me feel extremely

heartbroken.

Just as I was about to comfort Reagan, Axel also arrived from behind. Axel’s approach was silent, but the oppressiveness he exuded made it feel like the air around him was squeezed out.

The people around him automatically made way for him.

I did not see Axel, but the chill behind me gave me goosebumps all over. Axel must be mad.

Since I became pregnant with our second child, the morning sickness I had was completely different from when I was pregnant with Reagan. Axel wanted to cling to me 24/7.

He would not have asked someone from the branch office to pick me up if something had not come up.

If I had known I would meet Levi, I would not have returned ahead of schedule.

Sensing Axel’s gaze behind me, I picked up Reagan and turned around.

Reagan’s white T-shirt made the wound on my wrist more shocking.

Axel only took one look and Reagan, who I was holding, clamored to get down. “Dad, someone bullied Mom. Let’s avenge Mom.

Axel came forward and gently picked up my wrist to examine it. His face was gloomy. “Selina, what happened to you? You always get hurt when I’m not around. Which idiot had the nerve to hurt you?”

Looking at the golden retriever-like Axel, my heart was filled with warmth. I did not get hurt all the time. Axel was just too protective.

He would get nervous when I was bitten by mosquitoes, got marks from sleeping on my hands or even when I was eating less. However, that was what I loved about him the way he cared about me.

The lights in the banquet hall were dim, but the gems on the ground sparkled in the dim light.

Reagan felt something sharp under his feet, so he bent down to pick up a gem on the ground. It was the largest sapphire on the Eternal Sincerity bracelet.

Reagan held the gem high. “Dad, isn’t this your gift to Mom?”

Axel reached out to take the gem, turned it over, and saw the two letters GJ. His eyes turned dark and unclear.

The gems were scattered all over the ground, and the horrific wound on my wrist made Axel so mad that he squeezed the handrail beside him and deformed it.

The light was a little dim where I was, so Axel could not see clearly and was a little annoyed.

Axel took a chair from behind him and forced me to sit on it. “Turn on all the lights!”

The moment our eyes met, Axel’s eyes narrowed slightly. He immediately held my face. “What happened to your face? How dare they do this to you?!”

“I’m fine, Axel,” I responded softly and patted his hand soothingly.

“Selina, I’m your husband. There’s no way I’ll let you suffer like this.”

Reagan also hurriedly agreed. “We can’t let Mom get bullied.”
