Chapter 8
The excruciating pain pushed Annabelle to the brink of collapse, and she began to curse Alexander without restraint,
“You coward! Only dare to lay hands on women and dogs!”
“If you want to blame anyone, blame yourself for being so stupid! Foolishly letting me deceive you. Do you really think you’ll find Vivienne again? Do you think she’ll ever forgive you? If I had a fiancé like you, I’d wish you dead!”
“You useless piece of trash! She’ll never look back at you in this lifetime!”
Annabelle’s thighs were completely shattered in a compound fracture.
Excessive blood loss made her curses weaken gradually.
Alexander said nothing.
Speechless, he could only clench his fists until they went white.
“Send her and her mother to Serantara.”
When I returned to the country again, it had already been two years. The moment the plane landed, people came eagerly to greet me, pushing my luggage and saying,
“Ms. Kingsley, shall we head to the hotel to rest first?”
“Or…”
I glanced at my watch and said coldly,
“No need.”
“The acquisition is imminent. Let’s go straight to the Sinclair Group headquarters.”
The heels of my shoes clicked decisively on the marble floor.
When I pushed open the door, I saw the man seated at the head of the long table almost stand up in surprise.
I paid no mind.
With confidence, I extended my hand toward Alexander and said,
“Mr. Sinclair, I’m Vivienne Kingsley, Vice President of CDF Capital.”
“From now on, I’ll be responsible for advancing this project going forward. I look forward to working together.”
Not just Alexander, many familiar with me at the Sinclair Group had expressions of shock and disbelief, their eyes blankly
staring.
Only when Alexander’s assistant cleared her throat did he snap out of it and shake my hand.
Throughout the meeting, Alexander’s gaze was fixed on me, yet his mind clearly wandered elsewhere.

1 furrowed my brow.
“Looks like Mr. Sinclair isn’t in the best condition today.”
“Let’s postpone discussing the specifics for now.”
“I’ll have my secretary coordinate with you on a new date. Please get some rest, Mr. Sinclair.”
With that, I was about to leave when Alexander grabbed my wrist firmly.
With brute force, he dragged me into a car that sped us to the family estate.
“Vivienne, you’re finally back!”
“Do you know I’ve been searching for you all these two years?”
“I know you’re still mad at me. Look, I restored the estate exactly as it was when you lived here. See? Do you like it?”
Looking at the estate, my nose twitched with emotion.
“Alexander, what’s the point?”
“Forcing me to give up then, now you hand it to me like this. Your love is always lofty and self-righteous. You care more about controlling me than loving me. And you never cared how I felt.”
“To me, Annabelle is a murderer, and you’re just her accomplice handing her the knife. Equally disgusting.”
I withdrew my gaze and looked at him coldly.
“For this acquisition, I’ll give the Sinclair Group a 1% concession.”
“In exchange, the family estate is mine.”
Seeing my businesslike demeanor, Alexander gave a bitter smile and took my hand.
“Vivienne, do we really have to be this distant?”
“I already let Annabelle get her punishment. That transfer agreement was destroyed before it took effect. No one will block us again.”
“The family estate has always been yours. I’ve been waiting for you.”
I snapped my hand away without mercy and sneered,
“Don’t you get it yet, Mr. Sinclair?”
“Two years ago, CDF pressed the Sinclair Group relentlessly until today’s formal acquisition. Do you think there’s still a future for us? From the moment you helped Annabelle seize the family estate, it was over between us.”
“Name your price! The estate and the Sinclair Group together – sell them to me. How much?”
Alexander’s face turned pale. He finally understood how I felt back then.

Abandoned, betrayed, tortured.
He grabbed my sleeve, begging,
“I’m sorry, Vivienne.”
“We shouldn’t end like this. Please, give me another chance. Let’s start over.”
I mimicked Alexander’s old gesture, looking at my watch.
“If it weren’t for the Sinclair Group’s tax scandal, you wouldn’t agree to the acquisition. Every second you hesitate, its stock
price plummets exponentially. The price will keep dropping.”
“I’ll give you three minutes – six billion dollars.”
“Two minutes
–
three billion.”
“Last ten seconds – one and a half billion. You won’t find any other buyer besides CDF, but CDF doesn’t have to buy from
you!”
“Five, four, three…”
Alexander closed his eyes in defeat.
“One and a half billion, I agree.”
I glanced down at him, smiling lightly.
“Pleasure doing business.”
Without looking back, I strode away.
After that day, I never saw Alexander again. He suffered a heavy blow, never recovered, and returned to his family. He sold
the Sinclair Group’s management rights and ownership of the family estate to me.
At the celebration banquet, toasting and laughter filled the air.
No one mentioned the man who once ruled Ravenhill but had fallen from grace, Alexander Sinclair.
My uncle once said,
“Vivienne, you’re the most ambitious woman I’ve ever met.”
I smiled without denying it,
“Thank you. Ambition has never been a dirty word to me.”
I raised my glass to the official renaming of “the Sinclair Group” to “the Kingsley Group.”
As for love? Maybe one day, when I’m bored, I’ll find a man to play with feelings again.
After all, in this life, the truest thing I have left is my ambition.
