Chapter 1
Two days before the wedding, my bestie asked me to test my fiancé Chase Whitlock.
She refused to believe that a player like Chase could ever truly change his ways.
Her gut instincts were never wrong, so I pulled an all–nighter creating a burner Instagram account to seduce him with some classic pick–me–girl moves.
Chase completely destroyed me–didn’t even take the bait.
I couldn’t tell if I should be relieved or offended, but then he completely blindsided me with his response:
“Okay, this pathetic little game ends now.”
“Besides you two, I don’t fuck around with anyone else.”
“Sienna, next time you want to get all flirty with me, just use your real damn account.”
Sienna Marlowe is my bestie.
After my brain rapidly processed those three messages, I felt my blood turn to ice.
I squeezed my eyes shut in panic and pinched myself hard.
Through the wild pounding of my heart, I confirmed the horrible truth: this wasn’t a nightmare.
Chase Whitlock was cheating on me with Sienna Marlowe.
But… how?
Weren’t they supposed to hate each other?
Sienna always said Chase wasn’t good enough for me–that he was nothing but money and empty charm.
Chase thought Sienna was an annoying pest who stirred up trouble every time we fought, always pushing me to break up with him.
The video call ringtone jolted me back to reality.
I numbly declined the call.
“Why won’t you answer my video call?“Chase texted.
“Don’t tell me you’re crying over there.”
“Come to the Meridian Hotel. I’ll make it up to you.”
“Look, after we’re married, I’ll still treat you right.”
“Whatever Vivienne Alcott gets, you get too.”

“Including me.”
I stared blankly at my phone screen, a sharp ringing in my ears as my soul seemed to detach from my body.
Heavy tears rolled down my cheeks.
Through my blurred vision, I couldn’t help but replay every detail from the first time I brought Sienna Marlowe to this penthouse.
Without any introduction from me, she knew exactly where my bedroom was, where the walk–in closet was located.
When I grabbed her phone, I discovered it was already connected to my WiFi. She claimed she’d accidentally guessed my old AOL
assword.
Chase’s Oriental Shorthair was surprisingly affectionate with her. She said it was probably because she smelled like me.
But that cat was always aloof with me–I could barely get its attention even with toys and treats.
let it rolled over and showed its belly to Sienna on their very first meeting.
Then there were all those identical items at Sienna’s place–the same clothes, handbags, lipsticks, and makeup I owned.
Some were gifts that Chase had given her through me, under the guise of “keeping your bestie happy.”
The rest, Sienna claimed, were from various admirers.
‘d gotten so excited asking for gossip, while she’d stammered and dodged my questions.
I thought she was just being modest. Turns out she was feeling guilty.
I remembered all those shopping trips when they’d bicker and “compete for my attention” right in front of me.
Several times, I’d caught them breaking character–nearly laughing at their own performance.
And there I was, like an idiot, actually happy that they were “finally getting along better.”
These two had been using me as a prop in their twisted flirtation, playing me for a complete fool.
