Chapter 4
The next day before the rehearsal, I went back to the penthouse early.
When Chase came to pick me up, I’d already pulled myself together.
But he still noticed my red, swollen eyes.
“Were you crying last night?”
He bent down and gently kissed my eyelids.
I felt sick to my stomach. “I was missing my grandparents.”
Chase smiled softly and knelt down to help me change shoes.
“They’re watching over us from heaven, blessing our marriage.”
I stared down at the crown of his head and suddenly wanted to ask him:
If you can’t stay faithful, then why marry me at all?
Don’t you know I can’t tolerate betrayal?
When you and Sienna were sneaking around behind my back, didn’t you ever think about how devastated I’d be when I found out?
How it would destroy me?
In the end, I clenched my jaw and swallowed those words.
Chase had been proudly announcing to everyone that he was going to give me the most spectacular wedding ever.
I was going to turn that spectacular wedding into an absurd comedy.
And Chase would be the clown standing center stage.
The wedding rehearsal wrapped up by afternoon.
As we were leaving, I told Chase and Sienna to wait for me in the car.
I needed to talk to my assistant.
This million–dollar wedding was my design, but she was coordinating everything.
After our conversation, she looked troubled and kept opening her mouth like she wanted to say something.
Lignored her concerns.
I knew my requests were unreasonable.
These last–minute changes would create a domino effect of complications.

Chapter 4
But I’d handled over a hundred weddings, and I’d dealt with plenty of brides who were way more demanding and difficult than this.
Why couldn’t I be a little demanding when it was my turn to be the bride?
