Chapter 6
“Why bother with lab tests? Let’s see a live demonstration!” Callum’s lips curled into a disgusting grin, his smug expression making my stomach turn.
As expected, within three minutes the guard began to lose control.
He started smashing his head against the wall and pounding it with his fists–each blow powerful enough to cause permanent damage. Fortunately, the police had called medical personnel who administered a sedative, finally stopping the guard’s violent behavior.
After witnessing the effects, no one dared doubt my father’s confession any longer.
“A bakery owner with skills like that?”
“God, if he wanted to kill me, I might die without ever knowing why!”
“Thank goodness he’s not completely insane–imagine how many people could have died from those pastries he sells every day!”
The crowd’s faces had gone pale.
Eight years ago, when Victoria died so horribly, many had sympathized with my father, leading more people to know him. But none of them had imagined he would commit such acts!
‘Wait! Something still doesn’t add up!” the lead detective suddenly announced.
He approached my father, his gaze penetrating.
‘You just said you wanted to destroy the Forrester family, but the ones who actually ate your pastries were the
brides!”
‘If you truly wanted to harm the Forresters, why didn’t you give the pastries directly to them?”
The detective stared intently into my father’s eyes.
My father hesitated, then gritted his teeth before answering, “I wanted them to be despised by everyone! I wanted to ensure they could never recover from the disgrace–that’s the ultimate punishment!”
‘By killing those brides, the Forrester name would be forever tarnished. Rather than killing just one or two family nembers and making them vigilant, I chose to destroy everything they had, leaving them to be hated for
generations!”
My father’s explanation made countless onlookers gasp.
It was unimaginably cruel!

But the detective gave my father a cold look before turning his attention to me.
“Your father is indeed a good father. His fabricated reason almost sounds plausible.”
“But the real killer is you, isn’t it?!”
The detective’s accusation sent another shock wave through the crowd.
“It’s not Melody! It was me!” my father shouted desperately.
“Don’t trouble my daughter–this has nothing to do with her from beginning to end! Ask me whatever you need to
know!”
I looked at the detective and my father in confusion as fragments of memories flashed through my mind.
Just then, the police produced a photograph–évidence that had been preserved from the investigation–showing Victoria’s mutilated body.
Upon seeing the photo, I curled up on the ground in agony.
“It really was me, officer. Please leave her alone–she’s truly innocent!” my father pleaded.
The lead detective finally turned away from me and coldly asked my father, “Then explain to me exactly how your
elder daughter died.”
My father opened his mouth, clenched his teeth, and glanced at me one last time.
“Ahh!” he sighed heavily.
“My daughter Victoria was murdered by Callum’s parents working together!” he declared, pointing at Mrs. Forrester
Mrs. Forrester, who had been watching the scene unfold with detachment, suddenly heard my father’s accusation.
“What did you say?! Think carefully before you speak!” Mrs. Forrester’s face contorted with rage.
“Everyone’s lost their minds! What are they talking about?”
“Can someone please explain what’s going on?”
The crowd shared my confusion–the situation was becoming increasingly bizarre,
My father bit his lip and turned to the police. “I’m telling the truth–Callum’s parents murdered my elder daughter!”
Mrs. Forrester tried to lunge at him but was restrained by officers.
“Tell us everything, right now!” the lead detective demanded,
My father took a deep breath and closed his eyes.

Tears streamed down his face as he recalled what seemed to be agonizing memories.
“My daughter and Callum were college classmates. She loved him deeply and pursued him for five years.‘
“But on the night she finally married him, while reciting prayers in the chapel, she was violated by Callum’s father–that goddamn monster!”
“Callum was completely wasted that night and abandoned my daughter. My poor Victoria was assaulted repeatedly by that sick bastard until she couldn’t take the shame anymore and ended her life.”
‘But those Forrester devils had the nerve to claim my daughter was promiscuous. They even desecrated her body after she died–ripping out her fingernails and twisting her limbs until the tendons snapped…”
My father’s voice grew increasingly choked with sobs until he could barely speak through his tears.
The years of suffering he had endured were beyond my imagination.
‘That old witch later informed me that my daughter had seduced her husband. Of course I didn’t believe it, but they hreatened me using my younger daughter!”
My father pointed at Mrs. Forrester:
‘They said if the truth came out, they wouldn’t kill me, but they would definitely kill my daughter–even make me
watch as they tortured her to death!”
‘I’m just an ordinary citizen–how could I possibly stand against the Forrester family?”
‘So I concealed everything, helped them fabricate evidence, helped them eliminate all traces, and never pursued any responsibility…”
My father looked at me, his eyes full of remorse.
But I was the one who truly felt guilty.
f I hadn’t insisted on marrying into the family, my father would never have been exposed.
For years I planned my revenge alone. I’ve failed Melody and my wife, but even with the slimmest chance, I had to venge my child!”
My father spoke with absolute resolution.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Forrester shouted furiously, “Stop spreading these vicious lies! How dare you slander us like this?”
‘Do you have any evidence? Without proof, shut your mouth! My husband was humble and kind, a well–known gentleman–how could he possibly commit such a disgusting act?!”
Mrs. Forrester’s face had turned pale with anger.

But the police kept her at bay as they still had more questions for my father.
“If the Forresters were the killers, why did you target the brides? Those ridiculous reasons you gave earlier–don’t try to fool us with those,” the lead detective continued.
My father.remained silent for a moment before finally saying, “THEY ALL DESERVED TO DIE!
