Chapter 8
Rose’s face was drained of color, and her lips trembled uncontrollably. She opened her
mouth, wanting to deny it.
However, her in–laws weren’t fools. They had already sensed something was wrong. Her strange behavior and my pointed remark had already planted a seed of doubt in their
minds.
Jess spoke up slowly with a frown, her voice heavy with suspicion. “Rose… Is that pup really yours?”
“Of course it is! How could you even ask me that?” Rose’s voice cracked with panic.
She clutched the pup in her arms tightly, holding on to it as if it might be snatched away the moment she loosened her grip. She was too nervous and defensive, which only made things look worse.
Michael’s expression turned cold and grim. His tone left no room for argument. “We’ll run
a blood test tomorrow.”
Rose’s legs buckled slightly. Her face was now ashen.
At last, Nate spoke. He had stood off to the side all this time, his expression shifting constantly. His brows were tightly knitted, as though he was only now beginning to grasp the true scale of what was unfolding before him.
He stepped forward, looked at me, and said hoarsely, “Diana… I never thought things
would come to this.”
I sneered but said nothing.
He seemed to panic at my silence and quickly added, “I thought you were always bullying Rose because your wolf was stronger. I thought Mr. and Mrs. Roth favored you, so I couldn’t help wanting to protect Rose. I… I didn’t know it would turn out like this.”

He seemed to be full of regret.

But to me, his words were purely revolting. Was he truly sorry? Or was he just shaken now that he grappled with the possibility that I might be of royal blood?
I didn’t care. All I knew was that he would pay for the harm he inflicted upon me.
I looked him dead in the eye and said in a glacial voice, “Nate, your regret changes nothing. You made your choice. Now you’ll have to live with it.”
His lips trembled, as if he still had more to say.
But I was done listening. I turned and walked away without looking back.
As expected, it only took a few days for the truth to come out.
The results of the blood test were conclusive–I was the long–lost youngest daughter of the Alpha King of the North, William Egerton.
When my true parents learned the truth, their eyes were filled with disbelief, guilt, and
irrepressible joy. They had searched for me for over 20 years and had never once given up.
But even in their worst nightmares, they never imagined that their daughter had been
raised in the Roth household like a stray that was rejected, exploited, and trampled into the
dirt.
Now that they had found me, they offered me everything–love, respect, protection. They
wanted to use the full power of the northern kingdom to make up for the 20 years I had
lost.
However, I just smiled and told them it was fine.
I knew they weren’t to blame. The ones who needed to answer for what they’d done were the Roth family.
Still, I was no longer a pup. I no longer needed to rely on anyone’s protection. I could tear open my own path with my own teeth and claws.

My parents felt sorry and wanted to make it up to me in any way they could, but in the end, they respected my decision.
Meanwhile, Nate’s pack quickly fell into disarray without my insight and planning. Trade after trade fell through, their resources dried up, and their reputation crumbled.
Worse still, I had become his most powerful rival. As the princess of the northern kingdom, I now controlled several core trade routes.
Though my parents respected my independence, once they learned how Nate had treated me, they didn’t hesitate to act. Without a second thought, they cut off his pack’s access to critical supply chains.
He begged for help by pleading with his allies, but no one came to his aid. Those who once flattered him now treated him like a joke.
Without me, he was nothing but a powerless Alpha with nothing but a title to cling to.
There would be no redemption or second chance for him.
