Chapter 9
Of course, Rose’s pup wasn’t hers at all.
No one knew where she had found that pup, but she tried to pass it off as her own… until the test results exposed everything.
She and the pup were thrown out of the pack mercilessly without even a strip of jerky..
Once the pride of her family and the darling of the pack, Rose didn’t even have a place to sleep now. She stumbled back to the Roth residence pitifully with reddened eyes and was on the verge of breaking down.
As soon as she pushed the door open, she cried out, “Dad! Mom! You have to help me!”
However, she was met with heavy silence.
Inside, Charlie and Elle sat stiffly on the stone bench, their faces grim. The home that was
once filled with flowers and herbs now felt colder than midwinter.
Charlie held a snapped branch in his hand, his eyes dark and terrifying. Elle looked
exhausted and furious. It seemed as though she’d aged a decade overnight.
Rose felt that something was off. Nevertheless, she rushed forward and whined, “Dad, Mom, you have to think of something! My mate rejected me. I have nothing left! You can’t
just leave me to die!”
Upon hearing her words, Elle suddenly raised her head.
Her eyes blazed with fury as she chided, “Help you? We can barely save ourselves! And you have the nerve to show your face here?”
Rose was stunned, and her expression stiffened. “W–What are you talking about?”
With a sharp crack, Charlie snapped the branch in his hands and said coldly, “Did you think your mess wouldn’t affect us? Back when you provoked Diana, you thought you had it all figured out. But now? The whole werewolf realm now knows I raised a fool of a daughter!

“Of all people, you had to pick Diana to provoke! Do you have any idea what’s happening to us right now? No one invites us to pack assemblies anymore. All our former partners have cut ties with us. Our resources dried up! Trade routes blocked! Our herb business is barely hanging on!”
His eyes bore into Rose with pure resentment and rage. “If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t
be in this mess!”
Rose’s face turned ghostly white, and her hands trembled. “No… That’s not possible… It
can’t be…”
Elle laughed coldly and sneered through gritted teeth, “Look what you’ve done. If you hadn’t insisted on stealing her mate… If you hadn’t provoked her again and again, would Diana have gone this far?
“She’s the daughter of the Alpha King of the North! Do you think we can withstand even a flick of her finger? You’re the damn wretch who ruined your family!”
As Rose listened to Elle’s merciless reproach, her heart stung painfully like someone was driving nails through it.
She choked up.
In the next moment, she snapped. “So now everything’s my fault? Wasn’t it you who
ht me how to gain the upper hand over her? Wasn’t it you who told me how to steal her ed mate? Didn’t you say if I held out long enough, I could marry into a strong pack and finally turn my life around?”
She screamed hysterically, her eyes burning with grief and fury. “And now that it’s all gone wrong, you’re blaming it all on me!”
Charlie slammed his hand down on the stone table heavily. “How dare you talk back now? Look at what you’ve done! If you’d just kept your mouth shut about that pup, maybe they
wouldn’t have checked.
“But no! The moment someone pushed your buttons, you snapped and blurted everything

out! You exposed yourself! If you hadn’t reacted so poorly, they never would’ve insisted on a blood test! How can you be this stupid?”
Rose’s breath caught in her throat. She stood frozen, and every inch of her body went
numb.
Charlie stared at her with cold, bitter disappointment. “We’ve protected you your whole life and put you on a pedestal. And what do we get? You’re good for nothing. All you’re good at is making one mess after another.”
And that was when the fear truly set in. For the first time, Rose realized that she hadn’t just
been cast out of her mate’s pack–even her parents had lost the last shred of patience they
had for her.
She stood there, stunned, hollow, her mind blank.
All her life, she believed that even if the world abandoned her, her parents would still shield
her.
But now, she realized that even they had started to resent her. Even they were done with
her.
