Chapter 17
As I was making lunch for myself and wondering what I could surprise
everyone with for dinner, I received a link from Kelp. He wanted to warn
me about some complaints from the warrior, not part of our little pack,
about strange things happening out here. At first, I thought it was funny, but
when he said that Alpha Thomas had heard the warriors discussing it and
was interested in checking things out himself, I got scared.
My biggest fear is him discovering that I am still alive and taking me back.
Finishing what he started twice now at that whipping post in front of the
pack. He seems to want to humiliate me in a worse way. I don’t understand
his need to control me and make me act accordingly. I stared at the
sandwich I had made and started shaking. I can’t go through that again. He
could complete the rape the next time and I would not be able to live with
that. I would do whatever it took to kill him. If I didn’t, then one of my
protectors would.
Why can’t he just leave things alone? Kelp says he thinks rogues have taken
up living in the cabin under his nose and attacking his pack. Rogues are not
that brave. The attacks are not rogue. It is another pack that is attacking the
Blood Meadow pack. I have not informed anyone of what I know yet.
Whoever they are, they are using something to make them smell like
rogues.
When Eric and I were out working in the garden a few days ago, I smelled
them. I could smell the underlying pack smell too. That is why I did not
alert anyone. I wanted to see what they were doing on Blood Meadow land.
I can’t think about that right now. I must worry about Alpha coming here
and looking around. What can I do to protect myself? The guys expect me
to hide in the wall, but what if he discovers it? I need to do something that
will scare him off and make him not want to return here. What though?
“Little ghost, are you okay? I can feel your scared.” Kelp links and that is
when it hits me. “I’m fine, don’t worry about me. Pay attention to what you
are doing, and I will see you at dinner time.”
Why didn’t I think of this sooner? Using the little ghost nickname to my
advantage. Some of the pack believe that something strange is going on out
here or that the area is haunted. So why not? I could haunt the area with my
ghost if the Alpha shows up.
Ha! I can just imagine his face. Seeing my ghost out here instead of a bunch
of rogues. Rogues he can fight. Rogues he can kill. But my ghost? I am
already dead. What will he do to get rid of my ghost? Can’t kill me again,
right?
I found some corn starch and used it to whiten my face and squeezed some
cherries. Using the cherry juice, I stained my head from my hair line
running down the side of my face to look like blood. I used the juice on my
hands, legs, and feet. I looked a bloody mess and was ready if the Alpha
showed up. Even if he didn’t show up, I could play a prank on the guys. I
was giggling to myself about playing the prank when I heard a scuffling
noise outside.
Looking out the window, I saw a scraggly yellow wolf sniffing around the
garden. He looked towards the cabin, and I lowered myself down hoping he
didn’t see me. At first, I started shaking and thought maybe I should just
hide behind the hidden wall. Taking a deep breath, I remember my plan to
capitalize on the nickname he gave me. Besides, I want to make him feel
some fear like he did me. I might not be able to make him feel the pain he
has caused me to feel, but fear may be possible.
Peeking out the window, I see that he has shifted back to his human and has
put a pair of shorts on. He is poking around the garden at the plants with his
foot. Luckily, it is the garden in the front of the cabin that has begun to rot
until replanted next year.
Something must have caught his attention. Maybe I made a noise, not
realizing it, or moved the curtain slightly. He looked at the cabin, “Who’s
there?” He started moving towards the steps. “Come out here. You are on
private property.” Moving closer and looking around to make sure no one is
sneaking up on him, he continues speaking, “This Blood Meadow land.
This cabin is not for anyone to use but Blood Meadow pack members. You
are trespassing.”
He was getting closer to the window. I was shaking and wondering what to
do to get this haunting started. I picked up one of the walnuts we had
gathered to make brownies with and threw it through the window. It
bounced off the railing, making a noise as it landed on the steps. The Alpha
spun around yelling, “Who’s there?”
I threw another one, hitting him in the back of the head. I spun in that
direction. So, another hit him on the shoulder. Just then a gust of wind blew
the screen door slightly, making it bang. He sprinted down the steps and
turned to look at the door. I giggled quietly but it sounded like a garbled
moan because of my damaged throat.
His head shot up and he stared at the window hard. I could tell he was
trying to see through the curtains inside the room. Just then, I yanked on the
curtain and moaned as loudly as I could. The big bad Alpha screamed like a
child and ran for the garden. He stopped right next to it and turned again.
“Come out here. Face me like a man.”
Growling or what I thought was a growl, I pulled the door open and started
toward Thomas, waving my arms. I could not believe the scream of terror
he let out. He just stood there for a moment and then took off running
around the back of the cabin.
“You’re dead. They buried you. What are you doing here?” I continued to
run after him, waving my arms and moaning. “Don’t kill me. I didn’t mean
it. I didn’t want to kill you. Did my fated mate come back with you too? Is
she going to help you kill me?”
What an idiot! Big bad Alpha is afraid of ghosts or what he perceives to be
a ghost. “Please don’t kill me.” He repeats constantly. I chased him around
some more. I let him get almost to the tree line thinking he was going to
escape, and they herded him back away.
Why does he not change back into his wolf? Aza lets me know it is because
Zor realizes it is us and we are not dead. He does not agree with his human
ways and is having a good time helping us frighten him. Zor is holding
Thomas from shifting, telling him that your ghost is preventing the shift.
That when he killed you, your ghost gained powers and is here to hold him
responsible for his actions. It is a shame that poor wolf is stuck with such a
horrible human.
He stops at the side of the cabin, “I rescued you from those awful people
who were supposed to be your parents. I’ m sorry.”
Little ghost stands still in front of him. He stands as far back as he can, “Is
this where they buried you?”
She moves her head side to side like she is trying to understand what he is
saying. “Have I interrupted your eternal sleep?” However, he could not
keep from saying something stupid. “I would take it back. I would give you
more time to learn. You wouldn’t be my Luna because of your wolf
attacking me, but I could have kept you around longer to fuck and maybe
improve your living arrangements in the future.”
I decided I had enough of his apology and let my face contort into my
wolf’s snout while chasing and screaming as loud as I could at him. He was
running for the tree line yelling, “Don’t kill me,” over and over. I could hear
the guys and the rest of our pack laughing in the woods. Just as he hit the
tree line, he shifted into his wolf. Just as he hit the tree line he started
yelling at his wolf, wanting to know why he would not come to the surface
and shift.
He stopped in front of his men laughing at him. “What are you laughing at?
Did you see that thing? Katia is a real ghost, and she is here to haunt me.
