The screen came into focus again. I looked gaunt and hollow after being brought home from the psychiatric rehabilitation
center.
Benjamin wheeled into the room, sitting coldly in his wheelchair as he said, “Olivia’s being discharged tomorrow. You’ll pick her up from the hospital.”
I lifted my head and said in a hoarse voice, “Benjamin, I’ve told you countless times that our child was killed by Olivia…”
“How dare you bring that up again?” Benjamin cut me off, speaking coldly. “When you killed Olivia’s three children, did you think about the consequences? Olivia isn’t like you–she’s kind–hearted and wants to reconcile with you, which is why she’s letting you pick her up. When you go tomorrow, make sure to buy plenty of nutritional supplements and apologize to her properly.”
Benjamin threw the car keys at me without room for argument
and left.
After being discharged from the psychiatric rehabilitation. center, I grew increasingly haggard. The injuries from my previous fall still ached in my chest, and my body had deteriorated to the point where I’d feel dizzy and disoriented after just a few steps.

The screen switched to the hospital’s underground parking garage. I got out of the car carrying a pile of baby supplies, with expensive fruit Benjamin had requested packed in paper bags.
Olivia stood by the car holding a child, then suddenly thrust the baby into my arms without warning.
While I fumbled to handle the situation, she smiled sweetly and said, “Charlotte, I had a boy. Benjamin said he wants to be his godfather. Don’t you think this boy looks just like Benjamin?”
“What did you say?” I looked up sharply. Her gaze shifted to something behind me.
The next second, her expression suddenly changed to one of terror as she tried to grab the baby, saying, “Charlotte, please don’t hurt my son!”
I instinctively protected the baby, but in the chaos I heard the screech of brakes and Benjamin’s anguished cry: “Stop!”
My memory suddenly became fragmented, and I could only vaguely see blood spattering everywhere.
Watching this scene, my heart clenched in pain.
From the audience’s perspective, it clearly looked like I was deliberately trying to harm the newborn.

But only I knew that Olivia had been gripping my wrist tightly, using the leverage to push the baby under the car.
Olivia in the courtroom suddenly screamed and stood up, saying, “This is where Charlotte killed my son!”
The audience erupted in gasps and exclamations, with some even beginning to sob.
“I knew Ms. Olivia Parker would never hurt her own child.”
“Charlotte is pure evil! She was just jealous of Ms. Olivia Parker, which is why she did something so heinous!”
The baby’s death pushed the courtroom atmosphere to its peak. Benjamin calmed down, his expression returning to the familiar coldness I knew so well.
He took Olivia’s hand and said gently, “I’m sorry, Olivia. I shouldn’t have doubted you.”
Olivia leaned into his embrace, looking aggrieved.
“It’s okay, Benjamin. As long as the truth comes out.”
Her selfless appearance moved countless audience members.

They looked up at the screen as the slow–motion footage clearly showed Olivia deliberately throwing the baby under the car wheels while I desperately tried to save the child.
“That’s impossible!” Olivia’s face went pale as she said frantically, “She tampered with the memory!”
Benjamin trembled slightly, his eyes fixed intently on the screen, frowning.
The screen continued playing, this time showing the hospital
morgue.
I knelt on the ground covered in blood, trembling as I tried to touch the baby.
Benjamin’s face was ashen, and the way he looked at me sent chills down my spine.
He said, “Charlotte, what excuse do you have now? I saw it with my own eyes.”
“Benjamin, it wasn’t me… it was Olivia…” I said with difficulty, barely able to distinguish between reality and nightmare.
“Shut up!” Benjamin coldly interrupted me. “How dare you slander Olivia? She nearly got hit by a car trying to save her

Benjamin in the courtroom suddenly began trembling violently.
The screen showed Olivia standing across the parking lot, watching everything unfold with cold indifference.
Meanwhile, I had thrown myself under the car wheels, several of my fingers crushed in compound fractures.
Blood obscured my vision, but I felt no pain–I only wanted to save that baby…
“Stop it!” Olivia screamed hysterically. “This is all fake! Charlotte has been good at fabricating evidence since childhood!”
Nicole banged her gavel, saying, “Quiet! I repeat, memory extraction technology cannot be tampered with!”
The screen jumped to a month later, showing me curled up in a dark attic with the baby’s autopsy report in front of me.
The report showed that the baby had already died before the car accident, the cause of death being suffocation.
My fingers traced over those words, and suddenly I let out a heart–wrenching wail.
