Chapter 7
I had just left the venue when Lambert called out from behind me.
“Where are you going? I’ll give you a ride.”
I looked at him, then said meaningfully, “Lambert, I’m going to sever my mate bond with
Sampson.”
Lambert raised his eyebrow. “And?”
“So, there’s no longer any connection between us. There’s no need for us to meet anymore,” I replied.
Lambert gave a faint smile. At the corner of his lips, there was still blood from the fight that hadn’t dried off. He had been spending a long time in the forest and had gotten used to freedom. Even after he had become an Alpha, he would still have a Roguish air about him.
“I did help you. I even got injured for your sake. You can’t just ditch me now after you’re done, right? Ouch, my head hurts so much… I must have taken a hit there.”
He frowned dramatically, as if he were in a lot of pain. While he made it sound like he was in a bad state, the blood on him was all Sampson’s blood.
I sighed exasperatedly. “What do you want?”
I had to admit, their entire family was incredibly dramatic,
“I know your father’s pack is very powerful. After this, he’ll definitely cut ties with Sampson. I hope I can cooperate with your pack.”
Another one who had his eyes on my pack’s influence.
I crossed my arms. “Why should we partner with you?”
“From my understanding, while Sampson is a useless Alpha that hasn’t governed his pack properly, the pack’s territory has access to mineral veins that are valuable. These are what

your
“Now that your partnership with Sampson’s pack is practically over, you’ll need another pack to supply the minerals you need. It just so happens that my pack has plenty of those
minerals too.”
Lambert spoke confidently. It was obvious he came prepared.
And to be honest? He made a good point, and I was also quite tempted.
“I’ll think about it. But right now, there’s something much more important for me to
attend to.”
I took out the potion from the witch that would allow me to sever the mate bond.
Sampson had abandoned the pack for three months to enjoy himself. When he appeared on
the day of his funeral, he had already lost the Pack’s support. If he lost the cooperation with Eastplain Pack as well, he would cease to be an Alpha.
Thus, he would never agree to sever the mate bond on his own accord.
If that was the case, I would end this sorry excuse of a marriage myself!
I drained the entire potion in one gulp. As the bitter liquid entered my throat, I could instantly feel my body being burned. I clutched my chest, barely able to breathe, as sweat
began to flow down my face.
If I wanted to cut ties with Sampson completely, I must experience this pain.
Lambert anxiously came over to help me up, the concern obvious on his face. “Are you alright?”
Once the pain had passed, I stood once more. I had never felt more relaxed in a long time.
“To celebrate our cooperation and your newfound freedom, how about getting a meal together?” Lambert suggested.

I didn’t refuse him and got into his car.
I was still thinking about the terms of our alliance until Lambert stopped in front of a restaurant famous for its Salamanders.

Lambert opened the door for me. Seeing my stunned expression, he asked, “What is it? I thought you love Salamanders?”
“I haven’t had one for a long time,” I confessed.
Sampson didn’t like the smell of Salamanders, so I had given up on it for all the years I had
been with him.
Lambert took my hand and guided me out of the car. “Then indulge yourself today, and let me treat you to a meal. Eat as much as you like.”
I smiled, and ordered enough food to fill the entire table.
During our meal, we happily discussed the cooperation between our packs. By the time we had finished, it was getting late.
Lambert insisted on driving me back.
Upon reaching my home, an uninvited guest stood in wait.
