Chapter 51
Upon hearing his words, Linda couldn’t help but sit up straight.
“What do you want to know?”
Oliver pondered for a moment, tapp
his long fingers on the door frame.
“Find out who donated the cornea to me back then.”
“Cornea?” Linda looked into his eyes.
She knew that Oliver had experienced eye problems and had undergone a cornea transplant, but…
“It’s been so long, and it might not be possible to find out anything.”
Oliver fell into a slight state of contemplation.
When he lost his sight, due to his unique physique, he couldn’t use a regular cornea and couldn’t find a suitable match.
He had once prepared to live the rest of his life in darkness.
Later, someone donated their cornea to him, not taking a single cent and leaving no name behind.
“Let’s give it a try, he said.
He always distinguished between favors and grudges and was unwilling to owe such a favor for no reason.
Linda didn’t say anything further and simply replied, “Alright.”
Oliver turned and walked away.
Linda stared at his receding figure, her eyes filled with threads of deep affection.
She was lost in her thoughts until someone tapped her on the shoulder, bringing her back to reality.
Turning around, she saw the person who tapped her and suddenly blushed, feeling like a thief caught in the act.
“What are you looking at?” the person asked.
She nervously looked away, avoiding eye contact. “What can I see? I’m just lost in my thoughts.”
“Is that so? I thought you had a secret crush on Oliver,” the person teased.
“How could that be? Young Master Oliver is yours; how could I possibly have any thoughts like that? Linda waved her hands, putting on a straightforward appearance.
The person who arrived was none other than Cathy.
Cathy covered her mouth and chuckled, saying, “I was just joking with you; look how scared you got
Linda secretly glanced at her expression.
She seemed carefree, and there was nothing suspicious.
Only then did Linda breathe a sigh of relief, believing that Cathy was indeed just joking.
“Cathy, why did you come?” she asked.
Cathy was dressed in black clothes and wearing sunglasses, revealing only the snow–white skin of her chin.
It seemed rather deliberate for such a late hour.
“I was a bit worried about Oliver, so I came to check on him,” she said, her voice as melodious as a warbler.
Linda grinned and said, “Don’t worry, President Harrison is planning to let Rita and the owner of Starlight Media go.”
She patted Cathy’s arm with a teasing expression and said, “You’re the one with persuasive words. Young Master Oliver is such a proud person. Without you, who knows what kind of mess he would have made with the owner of Starlight Media?”
“Although President Harrison is formidable, the owner of Starlight Media must be no pushover to achieve their current success. If this continues, both sides will suffer. I was worried about it for a while,” Cathy said with a soft
sigh.
Cathy lowered her head slightly, visibly relieved.
“That’s good.”
Despite Rita’s presentation of evidence that Iris is not Oliver’s child, Cathy remained unconvinced.
She remembered something that Robert once mentioned.
He said that William saved Rita during a heavy snowfall and took her to the hospital.
At that time, Rita was two months pregnant.
If she had a miscarriage then, William couldn’t have been unaware of it, and he wouldn’t have hidden it from
Oliver.
Robert’s words were mostly out of displeasure with William, feeling that he shouldn’t have saved Rita and should have let her freeze to death.
However, Cathy had her suspicions.
She had a hunch that Iris might be Oliver’s child!
It was this hunch that made her restless, prompting her to come and gather information in the middle of the night,

“Don’t worry, President Harrison told me not to mention those two ever again, so it’s all over. Linda squeezed Cathy’s hand. “So, Cathy, from now on, Young Master Oliver is all yours.”
“Boss Lady, take good care of him from now on,” she joked.
Cathy burst into laughter, feeling sweet inside, but she kept patting Linda, saying, “What are you saying? Nothing’s settled yet!”
“What do you mean, nothing’s settled? President Harrison has always been at your beck and call, now and in the future. You two will get married sooner or later!” Linda was very optimistic about their relationship.
Cathy frowned slightly. “Linda, why do you think Oliver is so good to me?”
She hadn’t thought much about it before and took Oliver’s love for granted. However, as she grew older and gained more experience, she began to have doubts about it.
“What’s there to be tangled about? You’re beautiful and have a pleasant voice, like a nightingale. If I were a man, I would like you too,” Linda said matter–of–factly.
“Is that so?”
Cathy thought for a moment but still couldn’t come up with a reason.
Unable to figure it out, she decided not to dwell on it any longer.
Regardless of the reasons, as long as Oliver listened to her and was willing to be with her, that was enough, wasn’t it?
Rita’s perspective
Early in the morning, I took Iris to the airport.
Iris was still groggy along the way, not fully awake.
But when we boarded the plane, she opened her big eyes, looked around, and asked questions.
This little one had never been on a plane before.
I patiently answered all her questions, finding her curious and adorable while at the same time feeling a tinge of heartache.
Children from wealthy families have probably flown countless times on planes.
But she was different; besides living at the Harrison’s house, she was no different from an ordinary child.
Or even worse.
In other families, at least the grandparents were kind, and aunts and relatives were gentle, caring for the child.

But her situation was different.
Every day, she faced the cold eyes of her grandmother and the difficulties caused by Diana.
As the plane took off, Iris anxiously cuddled into my arms, tightly hugging my waist.
Just a moment ago, her big, watery eyes were shining, but now they were reddened and misty. I could tell that the little one was feeling scared.
I bent down and wrapped Iris in my arms, soothing her softly, saying, “Don’t be afraid; planes are very safe, even
safer than cars.”
After comforting her, I guided Iris to look outside the window at the clouds. Iris lifted her little face and saw the vast expanse of clouds moving backward, and her fear gradually dissipated, replaced by wonder.
“Mummy, we’re flying on the clouds. Mummy, did my godmother take you up this high last time too?”
She was referring to the time before the divorce when Fredrica mentioned taking her flying.
The three–year–old child had no understanding of the complexities of language and assumed that I had flown on a plane that night too.
I didn’t clarify and nodded, “Yes, we did.”
“It’s so much fun flying up high. Mummy, let’s bring Grandpa to fly too. I’m sure he has never flown before.”
Although she hadn’t met my father, the little one had a strong liking for her grandfather.
I nodded, but the thought of meeting my father soon made my eyes inexplicably red.
Despite being married to Oliver for four years, my father had come to see me a few times, but we never met face–to–face.
He didn’t say much, but he must have been resentful in his heart.
As a result, he stopped calling me, even on the phone.
After disembarking, I called for a taxi and drove for over an hour to reach my father’s residence on a small street.
Standing at the entrance of the long alley, I let the sun cast my long and extended shadow.
My feet seemed rooted to the spot, and I couldn’t muster the courage to take another step forw
After so many years apart, what had my father become?
Was he in good health?
Could he accept me and Iris?
I was feeling unsure and hesitant.

The more uncertain I felt, the less I dared to move.
“Mummy, let’s go,” Iris urged, tugging at my clothes. Only then did I step into the familiar small house.
As soon as I entered the courtyard and called out “Dad,” a basin flew out and slammed next to me with a loud thud.-
If I hadn’t reacted quickly and pulled Iris back, the basin would have hit Iris.
Immediately after, a dark–skinned woman ran out, looking fierce and menacing.
