I was making clothes for a neighbor when I
heard her.
I grabbed a shovel.
Peter stopped me.
He stood at the door, and the mother and
daughter stopped.
“Peter, I chose you first. Jenny stole you.
She’s trash. She doesn’t deserve you.”
Peter’s voice was cold.
“Ashley, I won’t marry you. My wife is Jenny!
If you bother us, I’ll hurt you!”
Ashley cried.
“My dad will be the manager at the store.
Why don’t you like me? What’s wrong with
me?”
Peter was mean.

“Jenny is better than you in every way!”
My mom said, “Peter, that’s rude. Invite us in.
What did your mom teach you? You’re
embarrassing her!”
Peter said, “Your family spoils Ashley. What
kind of family wants to switch husbands? Do
you think Peter is an object?”
My mom was angry.
After they left, I started planning.
Every time I saw Ashley, my neck hurt.
I remembered being stabbed with scissors.
She killed me last time, and I wouldn’t forgive
her.
Peter knew I was angry.
He said, “To destroy a house, break the main
pillar.”
I understood,
Ashley was arrogant because her family was
doing well.
My dad worked at the store. I remembered he
got a lot of lotions and sold them cheaply.
He brought food home. I knew he didn’t buy

My dad wanted to be the manager, but his
competitors would be jealous.

friend’s dad worked at the store.
The next day, Peter investigated, and I went

I made money getting honeycombs.
