Chapter 18
“Me?” Evelyn’s face was full of disbelief.
Reed’s face was filled with certainty, a hint of hostility flashed through his narrow eyes. “My intuition wouldn’t be wrong.”
He was full of anxiety in his heart, as this was the rhythm of snatching people.
Evelyn firmly said, “Regardless of anything, I will face the difficulties and go visit him tomorrow, while also trying to find out what he’s up to.”
“I went too.”
“No.” Evelyn firmly held on.
After finally persuading Reed, who wanted to cause mischief, Evelyn finally let go of her worries
and prepared for the project.
The next day, at the usual time, I came to visit.
Just as I reached the door, I heard a woman’s choked voice coming from inside the room.
“Martin, why? Didn’t you say you were still willing to accept me?”
Evelyn suddenly felt that she had come at the wrong time and was thinking about whether to leave
when Martin’s voice drifted over.
“In my lifetime, I would only marry Evelyn.”
Evelyn’s forehead skipped a beat, and she couldn’t quite understand.
Did Martin say he would marry her?
What happened?
Deciding to spend the rest of our lives together after just meeting for the first time?
Evelyn felt a sudden and awkwardness.
Just as I was thinking, the door suddenly swung open and a woman ran out, tears streaming down her face. She was unable to dodge in time and I was pushed back several steps by the force of her collision, nearly falling over.
Isabel was already in a bad mood and was about to say something, but she swallowed it back.
I looked up and saw a sophisticated urban lady with exquisite makeup, holding a gift box in her

hand.
Isabel was taken aback and her expression changed instantly when she thought of what Martin had just said, “Evelyn? Are you Evelyn?”
Evelyn rubbed her sore shoulder, her face not looking very pleasant as she faced the hostility from the other person. “I came to see Mr. Wilson.”
Upon hearing a familiar voice, Martin’s heart skipped a beat in the hospital room, and he instinctively called out, “Evelyn, is that you?”
The voice softened a bit, contrasting with the previously heartless tone.
This made Evelyn feel a little embarrassed.
She somewhat believed Reed’s guess.
Evelyn walked in, frowning, under Isabel’s gaze.
Looking up, Martin lay in bed, seeming to have not rested well, with a tired expression on his face.
And his gaze was scorching, like a dark abyss, firmly fixed on her.
Evelyn felt uneasy and walked over to place the gift box on the table. “Mr. Wilson, are you feeling better today?”
Martin looked at her, countless memories flooded his mind.
He couldn’t control his gaze, which fell directly on Evelyn.
He wanted to ask her, where had she been all these years? How had she been doing?
But it is also clear that they had only met for the second time, and these topics were beyond that.
Seeing her in a suit, with a hint of fatigue on her face, he suppressed the urge in his heart and softly asked, “Just finished work?”
Evelyn nodded and glanced outside: The woman should have left…
“How long have you been with the Peterson Group?” Martin asked softly, probing the question he
had been curious about since yesterday.
Evelyn briefly hummed and replied, “It has been two years, I was studying abroad before.”
Martin’s eyes flickered for a moment. She was very capable, but she had limited herself to the
position of a secretary for too long.

With this in mind, the tone was somewhat low, “Not bad, promoted to manager in just two years.”
Sensing Martin’s tone, Evelyn choked up, was this a compliment?
I had to gather information with a brave face and started inquiring, “Thank you for the compliment.
I heard that Mr. Wilson has been in contact with the Easter Group recently? You haven’t fully recovered, so please don’t overexert yourself.”
Martin’s smile faded slightly, “Hmm, I’m somewhat interested.”
“If Mr. Wilson was interested, why don’t we collaborate?” Evelyn said, and then she saw Martin raise his gaze, with emotions that he couldn’t understand in his eyes.
