When Vivienne saw me, the worry on her face said it all.
“I thought you were just going back to talk divorce with that piece of shit. What the hell happened? Did he hit you?”
“That fucking asshole–I’m gonna kill him!”
The way she’s ready to go to war for me was honestly touching.
I grabbed her arm and shook my head. “It’s fine, just some scrapes. I’ll heal. But look–I got this.”
I waved the divorce papers.
“That bastard actually signed?”
Vivienne examined them carefully. When she saw Kaelan’s bold signature, relief washed over her face.
I nodded. “Yeah. We’re filing tomorrow.”
“Good, I’ll come with-”
Before she could finish, I collapsed onto the floor.
Right before I blacked out, I saw the panic in Vivienne’s eyes.
When I woke up, it was already the next morning.
My phone showed fifteen missed calls–all from Kaelan.
I felt a pit in my stomach and quickly called him back.
He took his sweet time answering. “Siena, you’re the one who wanted this divorce, and now you’re standing me up. You sure you wanna go through with it?”
I touched my burning forehead, my voice hoarse. “I’m not feeling well today. Can we reschedule?”
A cold laugh came through the phone. “Siena, that’s a pretty shitty excuse.”
‘You don’t want the divorce, just admit it.”
‘Actually, if you don’t want to divorce, that’s fine. Just apologize to Aubrey, and I might consider staying married to
you.”
My heart dropped. “I’ll be there on time.”

I hung up before he could respond.
“Vivienne, can you come with me today?”
Vivienne had just brought me water. Seeing how awful I looked, she felt bad for me. “Can’t that asshole wait one
more day?”
“The longer we wait, the more complicated it gets. I just want this over with.”
Vivienne gritted her teeth. “Fine. I’m coming with you!”
At the courthouse, I immediately spotted Kaelan by the entrance. Tall and handsome, with Aubrey by his side–people were staring at what looked like the perfect couple.
When Kaelan saw me, he frowned.
“Siena, did you make yourself look like shit on purpose? Don’t think I’ll feel sorry for you. A snake like you–I can’t wait to divorce you!”
“You shameless piece of shit! You’re not even divorced yet and you bring your side piece? What, getting married right after the divorce? Wow, such an efficient businessman–can’t waste a single minute!”
The admiring looks turned to disgust and mockery.
People started whispering.
“Oh, so the mistress is moving up. How shameless.”
“I thought they were the perfect couple. Turns out it’s just a cheater and a homewrecker. Lock them up before they hurt anyone else!”
Aubrey tugged on Kaelan’s sleeve pitifully.
But Kaelan cared too much about his image. He pulled his hand away. “Aubrey, wait in the car.”
Though reluctant, Aubrey didn’t dare disobey and got in the car.
When we were almost at the front of the line, Kaelan suddenly spoke. “Siena, if you regret this now-”
“I don’t,” I said firmly. “I’ll never regret this!”
Kaelan’s face went dark. He didn’t say another word through the whole process.
I got my divorce certificate and walked out of the courthouse feeling like a huge weight had been lifted.
“Congrats, girl! You’re free!”
I nodded, a small smile on my face. “Thanks. My treat today.”

“I want Michelin–starred food.”
“Done.”
“And sushi.”
“Of course.”

I patiently agreed to every one of my best friend’s requests. She was the only person who’d always had my back, no
matter what.
Just as we were about to get in the car, Kaelan suddenly called out to me.
“Siena, I know you’re just acting on impulse. If you want to remarry, I-”
“No thanks. I hope you and Aubrey live happily ever after.”
And I meant it.
Then I turned and walked away without hesitation.
For years, I’d been the one chasing after him.
But this time, I saw Kaelan in my rearview mirror, standing there watching me leave.
If this had happened before, I would’ve run straight back to him.
Not anymore.
A man I couldn’t warm up after three years? Time to throw him away.
