Chapter 8
I was walking down the aisle in a flowing white gown toward Jace when a familiar voice suddenly called out from behind. .
“Riley… how could you marry someone else!”
I turned to see Blake staring at me intensely from among the guests.
Though he was holding Mia’s hand, his expression carried emotions I couldn’t decipher.
Mia tugged at his sleeve, her eyes full of hurt.
‘Blake, it’s the Sullivan heir’s wedding day. Don’t make a scene!”
Yet Blake seemed deaf to her words, roughly shaking off her hand as he rushed toward me.
His bloodshot eyes and trembling voice betrayed his emotion.
‘Riley, I won’t allow this. You’re my wife–how could you marry another man!”
He tried to grab me but was quickly surrounded by security.
[ace’s face darkened dangerously, his voice laced with fury.
‘Mr. Remington, you weren’t originally on my guest list. Receiving an invitation was my assistant’s oversight.”
‘Since you’re here, observe properly. Keep causing trouble, and I won’t be so accommodating.”
‘If I recall correctly, you recently came begging for my business partnership. Are you not afraid I’ll reconsider?”
3lake froze momentarily, embarrassment crossing his features.
After a silence, he looked at me again.
‘Riley, are you with him because of me?”
You don’t have to be afraid. Just say the word, and I’ll take you home right now!”
couldn’t help but laugh coldly.
Mr. Remington, you’re thinking too highly of yourself. Jace and I are together because we’re compatible. And my elationship status is none of your business, right?”
‘We have no connection anymore. You even killed my mother. How could you possibly think I’d go back with you?”

Blake’s face turned ashen, tears streaming down his cheeks.
He stammered, trying to speak.
But before he could continue, Jace coldly ordered security to remove him.
The guards immediately grabbed Blake’s shoulders, dragging him toward the exit.
I thought the interruption would end quickly.
But to my surprise, the usually composed Blake violently broke free. In front of everyone, he lunged forward and knelt at my feet.
His trembling fingers clutched the hem of my wedding gown.
“Riley, I was wrong. I was truly wrong!”
“I know you hate me, and I don’t expect immediate forgiveness.”
“I only ask for one chance to make amends for my mistakes. Please?”
He was crying uncontrollably.
Yet I merely frowned, kicking him away with obvious disgust.
“Blake Remington, when will you stop this nonsense?”
“I don’t need your amends. Someone like you makes me sick just by appearing before me!”
He collapsed on the floor, his eyes filled with despair.
As I turned to leave, he crawled shamelessly to block my path.
‘Riley, how can you stop loving me so easily!”
‘Don’t you remember? When you dug me out of that rubble, you promised you’d never leave me!”
‘Besides, you can’t even have children. Who else would truly care for you besides me!”
The next second, he was kicked violently away.
Jace, face contorted with rage, grabbed his collar and smashed his fist into Blake’s face.
“Say one more goddamn word and I’ll make sure you don’t leave here alive!”
Everyone knew Jace Sullivan as a living nightmare–crossing him never ended well.
I expected Blake would finally back down.

But he showed no fear, merely wiping the blood from his mouth. Before I could react, the two men were brawling
on the ground.
Mia instinctively screamed. She stumbled forward, desperately trying to pull Blake away.
“Blake, stop this! Riley doesn’t love you anymore. No matter how much you pursue her, she won’t come back!”
“She’s already seduced Mr. Sullivan. Why would she return to you?”
“A woman who can’t even bear children–what’s there to miss about her?”
“It doesn’t matter though. You still have me. I’ll give you as many children as you want!”
Her eyes gleamed with triumph as she looked at me.
I couldn’t help but laugh coldly.
Foolish to think the only way to keep a man was by bearing his children.
ake showed no response to her words. Instead, he turned around and viciously punched Mia in the His eyes held a coldness she clearly hadn’t anticipated.
“Who the fuck needs you to give me children?!”
“If you hadn’t begged me to let you keep those bastards, I wouldn’t have lost my Riley!”
“Since you love giving birth so much, I’ll make sure you get your fill!”
He ignored Mia’s screams, coldly instructing his assistant to drag her away.
Before leaving, he ordered the assistant to drop her in the slums. That area was known for gathering homeless vagrants–Mia’s fate would be particularly miserable.
After Mia was hauled away, her mouth covered to muffle her cries, Blake turned his attention back to me.
He looked up, his voice hoarse with desperation.
“Riley, I’ll deal with her properly this time. Can you please give me one more chance?”
Jace was furious, ready to lunge at him again, but I held him back.
I tenderly touched the bruises forming on Jace’s face.
When I turned back to Blake, my eyes were glacial.
“Blake Remington, you only disgust me now. How could I possibly give you another chance?”
“You’re right–I might not be able to have children in the future. So what?”

“Neither Jace nor I care about that. Children are the fruit of love, not a requirement for life!”
“Just get the hell out of my life! Never appearing in front of me again is the only atonement you can offer!”
No matter how Blake shouted, I ignored him completely.
I smiled brightly as I took Jace’s arm, walking decisively toward my happiness.
After that day, I never saw Blake again.
I only heard he returned home alone, raising three children in solitude.
After our wedding, Jace and I didn’t actively try for a baby.
Surprisingly, pregnancy came unexpectedly.
Jace was ecstatic, treating me with extraordinary care throughout my pregnancy.
The day our daughter was born, he knelt outside the delivery room the entire time, praying fervently for us.
After leaving the hospital, I accidentally came across news from home–Blake had attempted suicide multiple times due to severe depression. His family had no choice but to commit him to a madhouse.
I closed the browser window indifferently.
Looking up, I met Jace’s smiling eyes.
In the sunlight, he cradled our daughter, making her giggle with delight. Her laughter filled the air around us.
In that moment, happiness healed all my wounds.
Suffering isn’t frightening. People must always grow toward the light.
And my life, at last, would shine brilliantly.
