Chapter 66
MAIN VILLA
He arrives at the perfect moment, as if he had been there from the beginning and was just waiting for the right time to make his entrance.
The sunlight reflects on his face, illuminating his complexion and making his eyes stand out. His wavy hair is slightly tousled.
His face is so close to mine that I can clearly see the scar under his eye.
I remember it intrigued me even during our first meeting.
I feel his arms pull me tightly against him to keep me from collapsing.
He gives me a radiant smile, as if we were the only two people in the world.
Alexander came to help me.
I feel like his heart is going to burst out of his chest; it’s beating so fast.
Mine must be beating even faster than his.
He positions himself in front of Omar while making sure to hold me.
Omar looks at him, confused. He lowers his weapon, which had remained pointed at me.
“What the hell are you doing here, Alexander?”
Of course, they know each other.
“I came to stop you from making the biggest mistake of your life.”
“What are you talking about?”
“If you want to go after her father, the door is wide open.”
He points to the door with his finger.
“Do whatever you want with him. But if you don’t want me to make you regret being born, don’t you dare touch her.”
I can’t believe he actually said that.
Maybe I misinterpreted it–I’m in such a pitiful state
His body is tense, like he’s about to fight
“This is none of your business. Stay in your lane or I’ll have to make you leave by force”
Alexander gives him a crooked smile that seems to unsettle him.
“Threats? Do you think you’re scaring me, Omar? One kick and your little chihuahuas go flying, got it I want you out of this house immediately, and that’s non–negotiable”

Chapter 66
“You should watch your mouth. You sound like some street thug with no education or respect.”
“Don’t talk to me about education or respect when you raise your hand against a woman.”
He was there this whole time.
He was just waiting for the right moment to step in.
“You’re the first one to use any means necessary to make people pay when they cross you, and now you’re giving me a morality lesson?”
“You’re starting to piss me off, Omar. I told you to get the hell out of here, now get lost.”
Omar clenches his jaw.
“Stay out of this.”
“You want to put your balls on the table in front of me, is that it? I’m ready when you are.”
I feel like this verbal exchange is going to turn into a bloody fight any second.
“I’ll say it again–stay out of this.”
“What concerns her concerns me.”
Omar steps closer to us.
He grabs my wrist and yanks me toward him under Alexander’s watchful eyes.
I end up pressed against him. He reeks of cigarettes and drugs–it makes me want to throw up.
‘So I just touched your precious little girlfriend. Now what? You gonna kill me and my guys with the power of your stare?”
Alexander studies his hand on my wrist and my body against Omar’s.
He’s boiling inside.
‘I’ll ask you only once more: let her go.”
His voice is firm and commanding.
“I’m not afraid of you, Alexander. We outnumber you.”
“Then you must’ve miscalculated. Turn around.”
Omar frowns, still holding me tightly, then turns.
I widen my eyes when I see around twenty armed men, all aiming their weapons at Omar.
Alexander had planned everything.
Omar grumbles and finally lowers his weapon.
“Now that the rules are clear and you understand that I’m the master and you’re my dog–give me back my doll. Right now.”
He lets me go. Alexander catches me before I collapse.

He gives me a wink and wraps his arm around my waist, flashing a sly grin.
“You know the way out, right? If you want, my men can escort you.”
He said it in a mocking tone, with a gaze full of boldness and mischief.
Omar signals to his men, and they all head toward the villa’s exit, glaring at me as they pass.
Once they’ve left the villa, Alexander signals his men to leave too.
In the distance, I see a fleet of black luxury cars with tinted windows.
Once I’m alone with Alexander, I let my head fall against his chest and stare at the ground, ashamed of everything that just happened.
Why are you lowering your head?”
Forget it.”
He shrugs.
Are you okay?”
Yeah… Thanks for coming to help us. Without you, they would’ve set the villa on fire, and we’d all be dead.”
I didn’t come to help you all–I came to help you. In this house, the only person who deserves my attention is you.”
He catches me off guard.
How did you know?”
ie smiles.
You want me to make up some lie like ‘I could feel you were in pain‘ or do you prefer the truth?”
The truth.”
I’ve got a guy watching your villa and he kept me updated. I wasn’t planning to intervene until he told me some lunatic hrew herself in front of Omar when her body was already wrecked.”
don’t even have the strength to yell at him for having someone spying on our villa.
He just saved my life–and more importantly, the lives of the people I care about.
You’re suicidal.”
I’m just someone willing to risk their life for their people. Kind of like you.”
He looks at me, thrown off. He seems uncomfortable now that I’m being serious.
I think I’ve managed to rattle him–it might be the first time.
“It’s time to go back inside.”
“Let go of me or my father’s going to get suspicious about us.”

“Your father is really a piece of work! He didn’t even thank you after you nearly died protecting him.”
You don’t say.
“Why have you been avoiding my gaze since earlier? What’s going on. Inara?”
I don’t answer. I feel him get up from the bed, and instead of leaving, he moves to my side.
He crouches so that his face is close to mine. He smells good.
He grabs my cheeks to force me to look him in the eyes.
“What’s going on? You’ve been acting weird ever since Omar left.”
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
He clenches his jaw.
“Tell me what’s going on or I’m going to get pissed off.”
I know he won’t leave me alone until he gets an answer.
“Why did you come after everything I said to you this morning?”
“I’m not going to let that crap stop me from showing up.”
He sounds sincere and presses further:
“Why won’t you look me in the eye? I don’t remember doing or saying anything wrong.”
I sigh.
“That’s exactly the problem.”
He looks at me, confused.
“It’s the first time…”
My voice is barely audible, but he heard…
“The first time what? What are you trying to say?”
“It’s the first time someone’s defended me. I’m not used to anyone risking their life for me or protecting me.”

Chapter 66
Us? What us?
“Don’t worry about him. You’re better off staying close to me.”
Inside, they’re all there: the staff, Maria, the guards who were watching the villa, and my father.
They’re all staring at us silently, but they’re giving me grateful smiles.
Maria runs toward me.
She hugs me so tightly I almost suffocate. When she realizes, she lets go, and Alexander pulls me close again.
“What happened? We heard yelling and then silence!” Maria asks, worried.
“Everything’s fine. They’re gone,” I reply in a reassuring tone.
They all look relieved.
I’m glad they’re safe–that’s all that matters.
“How did you do it?”
Alexander speaks:
“Inara handled it. That’s all you need to know.”
Khalid walks toward us. He observes me without paying any attention to my condition.
“Good thing you got rid of those cockroaches.”
All he cares about is that he’s safe.
“May I ask what you’re doing here, Alexander?”
He eyes him suspiciously.
I owed your daughter a favor since our trip to Rome. I just paid it back by helping her deal with the men you owed money
to.”
He didn’t bother hiding his disgust for Khalid in that sentence.
‘I see‘
No thank you for his help–not even a hint of gratitude.
Tl help Inara up to her room. Then I need to speak with you?
“Make yourself at home”
Nothing sincere in my father’s words–everything is meticulously calculated
As we go up the stairs, I pretend to show him where my room is so he doesn’t get suspicious
He gently lays me down on my bed. I rest my head on the pillow and lie down comfortably
He sits just a few inches away from me and starts staring
