The Bastard 11

The Bastard 11

Chapter 1

I’m the unwanted fiancée of Dominic Harrington, the most powerful man in the city.

While kidnappers tortured and violated me, he was setting off million-dollar fireworks for his precious mistress’s birthday.

The kidnappers called demanding ransom. He laughed:

“If you actually manage to kill her, come find me for a reward.”

I felt relieved. At least my worthless life was worth something to him.

Later, when his golden girl needed a kidney transplant, he personally performed the surgery-cutting into the donor himself.

“Make sure you dispose of the body properly,” he told his men.

He had no idea who was lying on that operating table.

The woman whose kidney he carved out with his own hands, was the fiancée he despised most.

He got his wish. I’m finally gone.

Too bad he doesn’t know what he just lost.

After I died, they threw my body on some sketchy operating table, flipped me over so my back was showing.

They were still pumping stuff into my veins-some cocktail of chemicals to keep me fresh, make sure my organs stayed good.

Marcus, the sick fuck who killed me, was grinning ear to ear. “Damn, this chick is gonna pay us twice. Once for the fun, now for the parts!”

And guess who bought me? Dominic Harrington himself. New York’s golden boy.

My fiancé. And somebody else’s everything.

When they heard Dominic’s name, one of the guys started freaking out.

“Yo Marcus, she’s Dominic Harrington’s girl, man. We snatched her, killed her, and now we’re selling her back to him? Dude, if he figures this out…”

Marcus just laughed his ass off. “Are you kidding me? When we had her, he wouldn’t even drop fifty K to get her back. You think he gives a shit about

her?”

“Trust me-Nora Shirley is a total joke!”

Everyone started cracking up.

Floating up here watching this mess, I had to agree.

Yeah. I really was the biggest joke in all of New York

Even though me and Dominic grew up together. Even though we promised we’d be together forever when we were kids.

Helicopter blades started beating outside. Dominic was here,

Time to harvest some organs for his precious dying canary.

His security team kicked down the door, then Dominic walked in with his fancy doctors.

The killer was all bows and nods to him, faking respect when he said, “Mr. Harrington, sir.”

Dominic didn’t even look at him. Just walked straight over to where I was laying.

He stuck his hand out to one of the doctors. “Give me the scalpel.”

The doctors looked confused as hell. Why would he want to get his hands dirty?

Dominic’s face went dark. His voice got that cold edge to it.

“What part of that didn’t you get? Hand me the scalpel. I’m doing this myself.”

He looked dead serious. “Anything for Lily has gotta be perfect. Nothing but the best!”

Lily-the canary he kept on the side, the woman he held closest to his heart.

He’d even get his hands dirty cutting into me, just to give her the best.

I knew he graduated med school, but I never thought he’d be the one slicing me open.

The whole thing was over fast.

Dominic grabbed what he came for and was ready to bolt. One of his doctors started moving toward me with a needle and thread.

Dominic stopped him. “She’s dead. Why bother? Just toss her.”

Marcus nodded like a good little puppy.

I looked down at my broken, mangled body and suddenly felt so damn cold.

There I was, just lying there. If he’d just flipped me over, he would’ve seen my face and recognized me.

I wrapped my arms around myself. God, I wanted to tell Dominic how cold I was.

But he couldn’t hear me.

Right before he left, Dominic stopped dead in his tracks.

He turned back to Marcus, eyes narrowing. “Your voice… I know that voice.”
