Chapter 8
Hearing that, Lily’s eyes went wide and her whole body started shaking like a leaf.
She didn’t need to say anything. That reaction told him everything.
She started begging right away.
“Dominic… let me explain.”
Dominic nodded. “Sure, Explain.”
Just as Lily felt relieved. Dominic started ripping out all her medical equipment.
Lily stared in horror, unable to stop him.
He pulled out her oxygen tube, ripped off her heart monitor, and finally yanked out her IV drip.
“Go ahead. I’m listening.”
Dominic turned around, grabbed an empty syringe, and aimed it at her IV line.
“Perfect timing. When you’re done talking, you can die.”
He started injecting air into her bloodstream.
Lily screamed and thrashed around.
But no matter how much she tried to get away, she couldn’t escape his grip.
I heard Dominic say, “Nora, I’m gonna get revenge for you.”
Sophie’s death was actually an accident.
As one of his secretaries, Lily knew exactly where the Harrington family went and when.
Her plan was to kidnap Sophie first, then swoop in to “save” her. That way she’d look like a hero to Dominic.
But she hadn’t figured Sophie was such a total scaredy-cat. When the kidnappers tried to scare her, they literally scared her to death.
With no other choice, they had to make the kidnapping real and even staged the whole murder scene.
To keep Dominic from finding out the truth, Lily worked overtime covering up any trace of her involvement.
Since she was so close to Dominic, she managed to hide evidence and throw him off her trail over and over.
No matter how hard Dominic investigated, he never suspected her.
But somehow, I figured it out.
Even though I only had suspicious clues, Lily knew that if I showed those breadcrumbs to Dominic, everything would fall apart.
So she decided to get rid of me.
Same old kidnapping trick, on her birthday.
Lily was confident that between me and her, Dominic would definitely choose her.
She was right.
But even she didn’t expect those kidnappers to be ballsy enough to kill me and then sell my body.

And the buyer? Dominic himself.
Dominic, who swore off scalpels after his sister died, picked one up again to carve out his fiancée’s kidney for his little canary.
Dominic, when you wake up in the middle of the night from now on, are you gonna keep dreaming about that moment?
Dominic didn’t let Lily die easily.
While he was stitching me up, he swore he’d make her go through everything I did.
Hearing those screams coming from the next room, I let out a quiet sigh of relief.
I thought when revenge finally came, I’d feel amazing.
But honestly? I just felt a little lighter, that’s all.
Nobody could take away the inhuman pain I went through
The wounds on my body and in my heart-they’ll never heal
In the end, Dominic took that kidney back and put it back inside me.
Now I was finally whole again.
But my ghostly body started fading away.
I watched Dominic, still wearing those blood-stained surgical gloves, standing next to me sobbing his heart out.
He dropped to his knees beside the operating table, crying and calling my name.
“Nora! Nora!”
“I was wrong! I was so fucking wrong! I’m not asking you to forgive me, I just… I just want you to be at peace…”
“I’ll get revenge for you. Everyone who hurt you is gonna pay the same price!
“All that anger and resentment in your heart-come to me in my dreams and tell me about it. I want so badly… so badly to see you one more time.”
Before, no matter what he asked of me, I would’ve tried my hardest to make it happen.
But this time, I could see my ghostly body was already half gone.
I don’t think I’ll be able to visit his dreams.
And honestly? I don’t want to.
Dominic was still holding my body, crying. His tears were soaking into my skin.
But his tears now… they’re too little, too late.
Dominic, it’s time for me to say goodbye.
