Chapter 9
After Nora died, Dominic became a completely different person.
He used to be cold and arrogant, but at least he seemed human.
Now he was like some soulless puppet.
He couldn’t focus on anything-family stuff, company business, he handed it all off to other people.
Every day he was busy with arrangements for Nora, picking out the perfect burial site and casket.
He spent a fortune buying an entire mountain just to be her cemetery.
He planted peach blossom trees all over it – that was what made him happiest.
Nora loved peach blossoms when she was alive. With all these flowers keeping her company, she’d definitely be happy sleeping here.
As for the casket, Dominic personally selected the materials and supervised the work, bringing in the best craftsmen to build it piece by piece.
The day they buried Nora, Dominic carried her in with his own hands.
Her body was barely recognizable anymore, but Dominic’s eyes were still full of love.
He whispered, “Sleep now. There’s flowers and birds singing here-perfect for a peaceful rest.”
Everyone thought he’d lost his mind, but he didn’t think so.
Even though Nora was already buried, he was still making a big production out of planning their wedding.
Jake came to reason with him. “Nora’s dead! Wake the hell up!”
Dominic looked at him like he was crazy. “What are you talking about? Nora’s trying on her wedding dress. She’s excited about our wedding too.”
You can’t reason with a madman.
Everyone could only watch helplessly as the wedding day got closer.
When the actual wedding day came, there were guests but no bride and groom at the venue.
Because the real bride and groom were up on the mountain, in the cemetery.
When Dominic ordered the caskets, he’d ordered twa.
He’d said he’d make everyone who hurt Nora pay the price.
And he was part of that.
The price he paid was his life.
His mistakes-this was the only way he could make up for them.
