The doctor rushed in. One look at my pale face and he froze, then fumbled to call the police

Peter knocked the phone out of his hand and grabbed him by the neck. Who told you to call the cops? My wife isn’t dead! Just give her treatment! It’s just pecan pie. How could she die?! If she doesn’t wake up, you’re not leaving this

room!”

The doctor frowned as he checked my body. Mr. Auclair, she clearly died from cardiac arrest. Her heart suffered se- vere trauma before death. I suggest sending her to a medical examiner for autopsy‘

Peter punched him to the floor

Autopsy?! Do you want to cut her open? She’s so beautiful. How could you leave scars on her body? Say that again and I’ll skin you alive!”

He ignored everyone else, continuing to think I’d wake up. He crushed up my allergy meds and tried to feed them to me. I couldn’t swallow, so he dissolved them in water, drank it, and then forced it into my mouth

But the liquid just dripped from the corners of my lips, soaking the pillow

He reached out and touched it. It was drenched

But that wasn’t from the water; it was from my tears. It showed the pain I had felt before my death. They were the tears I cried every night since the Durand family fell

Who was taking care of her? How did she end up sleeping on a wet pillow?”

No one spoke, but everyone knew that Peter had fired my personal maid and banned all household staff from tending

to me

His eyes turned vicious as he sneered. Not talking? Fine. Drag them all to the tub. Each of you will bear responsibili- ty for neglecting her!”

I shook my head. Peter was always like thisusing his power to prove a point without solving the real problem. I was already dead. What was the point of punishing the staff

My father had never acted this blindly. That was why no matter how Peter schemed and framed him, even after he managed to ruin the Durand family, he still never measured up to my father’s power and grace

I heard Peter shouting again, which only annoyed me. I leaned by the window, waiting for my parents and sister to come get me

But Peter wouldn’t let me go. He locked me in this tiny room when I was alive. Now that I was dead, he still wouldn’t let my body go. No one was allowed to take me away

Use everythingevery machine, every method. I don’t care what it costs, just bring her back!”

The woman who gave me the pecan pie walked over while swaying her hips. She was dressed almost exactly like me. She purred, Mr. Auclair, she’s already gone. Stop torturing her and look at us. We’re young and better than her in ev- ery way. Whatever style you want, we’ve got it”

Before she could finish, Peter punched her straight across the room
